AN ORDINANCE ORDERING, CALLING
NOTICE; OF A SPECIAL
ELECTION TO BE HELD IN. THE
CITY OF ALAMEDA, STATE OF
CALIFORNIA, ON TUESDAY,
NOVEMBER 1, 1927, FOR THE PUR-
POSE OF SUBMITTING TO THE
QUALIFIED: ELECTORS OF SAID
CITY PROPOSITIONS TO INCUR
BONDED DEBTS BY SAID CITY
FOR CERTAIN MUNICIPAL
IMPROVEMENTS THEREIN
WHEREAS, on September 27, 1997 .,

Be it ordained by the Council of
the City of Alameda as follows:

The estimated cost of the first ob-
ject or purpose hereinbefore stated,
to-wit: , street work, including the
improvement of Park Street, Web -
ster Street, Alameda Avenue, Bay
Island Avenue and Bay Shore Drive,
and the - amount of the principal
of the indebtedness to be incurred
therefor is TWO HUNDRED AND
THIRTEEN THOUSAND DOLLARS
($215,000), and the rate of interest
to be paid on said. indebtedness
shall not exceed five per cent (5%)
per annum, payable semi - annually.
The estimated- cost of the second
object or purpose hereinbefore' stat-
e d, to -wit: the acquisition;. con-
struction and - completion -of .public
parks, and the amount -of - the prin-
cipal of the indebtedness tobein-
curred therefor is ONE HUNDRED
AND FIFTEEN THOUSAND DOL-
LARS (.M5,000); and the rate of in-
terest to be paid on said indebted-
ness shall not exceed five per cent
(5 %) per .annum, payable semi -an-
nually.

each elector, shall be supplied to
the electors of said city by the city -"
clerk, but a, failure oil the part of
any elector to receive such sample
ballot or such notice shall not be
held to invalidate the election or a.f-
feet in any manner the legality
of any bonds that may be author-
ized thereat.
Sec. 3. Any qualified elector of the
City of Alameda may vote at said
special election for or against any
or all of the propositions herewith
submitted. To vote in favor of, and
to - authorize < the ,incurring, of a
bonded debt for the purpose set
forth in a proposition, he or she
shall stamp a cross (x) in the vot-
ing square to the right of the word
"YES" .printed opposite such propo-
sition, and to vote against and re-
fuse to authorize the incurring of
a bonded debt for the purpose set
forth ill a proposition, he or she
shall stamp a' cross (x) in the vot-
ing square to the right of the word
"NO" printed opposite such propo-
sition.
A cross (x) stamped in the voting
s care after the printed word
"YES" shall be counted as a vote in
favor of such proposition, and to
authorize the incurring of a bond-
ed debt to the amount of and for
the purpose specified therein; and a
dross (x) stamped in the voting
square after the printed word
"NO" shall be counted as a vote
against such proposition, and a re-
fusal to authorize the incurring of
abonded debt for the purpose speci-
fied therein.
Sec. 4. There shall be fifty -eight
(58) election precincts for the pur-
pose of holding said special election,
which said precincts shall be the
same and have the same boundaries,
respectively, as those established by
the Board of ` Supervisors of the
County of Alameda, pursuant to the
provisions of Part 3, Title 2, . Chap-
er 11r of the Political 'Code of the
State of California, and the location
of the respective Dolling places
therein and names of the officers
hereby appointed to conduct said
special election 'shall be the same
as those appointed by the Board
of Directors of the Fast Bay Muni-
cipal Utility District for the 'put-
Dose of holding and conducting an-
other special election in said city on
the same day...
See, 5. At said special election the
polls shall be opened at six o'clock
it- m, of the day of said election,
and be kept open until seven o'clock
p. m. of the same day, when the
polls shall be closed except as pro-
vided in Section 1164 of the Politi-
cal Code of the State of Califor-
nia.
The City Clerk is hereby directed
to procure all supplies that may be
necessary to properly and lawfully
conduct said election.
When the polls are closed the offi-
cers of 'election shall count the bal-
lots cast at such election, and can -
vass the votes cast respectively for
and against the propositions here-
in stated, and make return thereof
to the city council in time, form
and manner required for the count-

ing, canvassing` and returning of
votes cast at other municipal elec-
tions held in said City of Alameda.
See, 6, If, at said special election,
it shall appear that two- thirds of
Lill the votes cast thereat were in
favor of and authorized the incur-
ring of a, bonded debt for any of the
purposes set forth -inthe proposi-
tions hereinbefore stated, then such
proposition or propositions, as the
case may be, shall be deemed to
have been accepted by the electors,
and bonds will be issued to defray
the cost of the improvements there-
in specified and to the amount stat-
ed therein. Such bonds shall be of the
form and character known as
"Serials" and at least one - fortieth
part of the principal sum of said
indebtedness will be paid each a,nd
every year in gold coin of the
United States until all of said bonds
are paid.
Sec. 7. This ordinance shall be
published once a day for seven days
prior to said day of election in the
Alameda Times -Star, a daily news-
paper of general circulation, printed
and published at least six days a,
meek in said city, and this ordi-
nance and such publication there-

Sec. S. This ordinance shall take
effect immediately.

cil of the City of Alameda this
4th day of October, 1927.
