AMENDING THE ALAMEDA MUNICI-
PAL CODE BY RENUMBERING AND
AMENDING SECTIONS 4-221.1,*
4-221.2 AND 4-221.3 RELATING TO
UNLEASHED DOGS ON THE ALA-
MEDA MUNICIPAL GOLF COURSE
AND PARKS, PLAYGROUNDS AND
RECREATION CENTERS OF THE
CITY OF ALAMEDA.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUN-
CIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA AS
FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That Sections 4-221.1;
4-221.2 and 4-221.3 of the Alameda
Municipal Code are hereby renumbered
and amended as follows:
Section 4-221.1 is renumbered to be
Section 4.223 and shall read as follows:
SEC. 4-223: DOGS TO BE KEPT UN-
DER LEASH. It shall be unlawful for
any person owning, having an interest
in,
control, custo or having charge, care,

or possession of any
dog, male or female, to cause or per-
mit such dog to be in or upon the
Alameda Municipal Golf Course, or
any Park, Playground or Recreation
Center of the City of Alameda, unless
such dog be held or led by a cord,
chain or other object or thing, or be
confined in a vehicle.
Section 4-221.2 is renumbered to be
Section 4.224 and shall read as follows:
SEC. 4-224: SEIZURE AND DISPOSI-
TION OF UNLEASHED DOGS. Every
dog, male or female, found or bein
in or upon the Alameda Municipal
Golf Course, or any Park, Playground
or Recreation Center of the City of
Alameda and not being held or led
by a cord, chain or other object or
thing, nor confined in any vehicle,
shall be taken into custody by the
Poundmaster or any Police Officer and
shall be transported to and impounded
in the Public Pound, where, in addi-
tion to any other penalties provided
by this Code, it may be redeemed by
the owner or persons entitled to pos-
session thereof, within five (5) days
thereafter on payment to the Pound-
master of the sum of Five ($5.00)
Dollars, but if not so redeemed, such
dog shall be destroyed and disposed
of by the Poundmaster; provided, that
the Poundmaster is hereby authorized
not to destroy dogs which, in his
opinion, are valuable, and sell them,
and his receipt for the sale thereof,
endorsed by the City Clerk shall be a
valid title to the purchaser. If a li-
cense tax has not been paid for the
then current year for any impounded
dog, the person redeeming said dog
must, before redemption, pay such
license tax in addition to the said suin
of Five ($5.00) Dollars and any other
penalties provided by this code.
Section 4-221.3 is renumbered to be
Section 4,225 and shall read as follows:
SEC. 4-225: RIGHT OF ANY PERSON
TO SEIZE UNLEASHED DOG. In addi-
tion to the Poundmaster or any Police
Officer, any person may take into his
custody any dog, male or female, found
or being in or upon the Alameda Mu-
nicipal Golf Course, or any Park, Play-
ground or Recreation Center of the
City of Alameda and not being held
or led by a cord, chain or other ob-
ject or thing, or confined in any ve-
hicle and it shall be the duty of such
person to immediately deliver such dog
to the Poundmaster or any Police
Officer who shall give to such per-
son a receipt for such dog.
SECTION 2. This ordinance shall be
in full force and effect from and after
the expiration of thirty (30) days f rom
the date of its final passage.
