AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING BY
REFERENCE THE UNIFORM CODE
FOR THE ABATEMENT OF
DANGEROUS BUILDINGS, 1973 EDITION, COPYRIGHT 1973, BY INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE OF
BUILDING OFFICIALS, WITH
AMENDMENTS, ADDITIONS AND
DELETIONS THEREOF, AS THE
PRIMARY CODE, REGULATING
BUILDINGS OR STRUCTURES
WHICH FOR ANY CAUSE EN-
DANGER THE LIFE, LIMB,
HEALTH, MORALS, PROPERTY,
SAFETY OR WELFARE OF THE
GENERAL PUBLIC OR THEIR OCCUPANTS, AND REQUIRING SAME
T BE REPAIRED, VACATED OR
G _MOLISHED.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL, OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA:
Section 1. Title. Uniform Code For
The Abatement Of Dangerous Build-
ings. This Ordinance shall be known as
the "Alameda Code for the Abatement
of Dangerous Buildings" may be cited
as such, and will be referred to herein
as "this Ordinance" or "this Code," or
"Code for the Abatement of Dangerous
Buildings."
The Uniform Code for the
Abatement of Dangerous Buildings,
1973 Edition, Copyright 1973, by the
International Conference of Building
Officials, with amendments, addlffons
and deletions thereof, as the Primary
Code, copies of which have been
Placed on file with the City Clerk for
use and examination by the public and
by Resolution No. 8256 declared to be
Public records, as schang copies have
changed
supplemented with the approval of this
Council, and each and all of the
regulations, provisions, conditions,
requirements and terms thereof are
hereby adopted as the Alameda Code
for the Abatement of Dangerous
Buildings, regulating buildings or
structures within the City of Alameda
which for any cause endanger the life,
limb, health, morals, property, safety
or welfare of the general public ar
their occupants, and requiring same to
be repaired, vacated or demolished,
and by this reference is incorporated
herein and made a part hereof to the
same effect as though set forth herein
in full
Section 2. Whenever in said Code the
words "City," "Building Inspector,"
"Fire Marshal," "Building Official"
or other designation of an officer,
board or department occur, the word
"City " shall mean the City of Alameda
and the word "Building Inspector,"
"Fire Marshal," "Building Official"
or other designation of an officer,
board or department, shall mean res-
pectively the Building Inspector, the
Fire Chief, or such officer, board or
department of the City of Alameda.
Section 3. Validity. If any section;
sub section, sentence, clause or phrase
of said Code or of this Ordinance is for
any reason held to be unconstitutional,
such decision shall not affect the
validity of the remaining portions of
said Code or of this Ordinance. The
City Council hereby declares that it
would have passed this Ordinance and
each section, subsection, clause or
Phrase thereof irrespective of the fact
that any one or more sections, sub-
sections, sentences, clauses and
Phrases be declared unconstitutional.
Section 4. Violations and Penalties.
The provisions and penalties contained
and provided in Section 203 of Chapter
2 of said Code are hereby specifically
incorporated and adopted as a part of
this Ordinance. In addition to the
penalties herein provided, any build-
ing, structure, or portion thereof, or
any condition existing or permitted to
exist in violation of any provision of
said Code, or any actual or threatened
violation of said Code, may be abated,
restrained or adjoined in any manner
provided by law; provided, further,
that the penalties set out in Section
1 -411 of the Alameda Municipal Code
are specifically applicable herein and
may be applied cumulatively,
consecutively, or in the alternative
with any penalty set out herein.
Section 5. This Ordinance shall be in
full force and effect from and after the
expiration of thirty (30) days from the
date of its final passage.

the Council of the City of Alameda in
regular meeting assembled on the 17th
day of September, 1974, by the follow-
ing vote, to wit:

Corica, Hurwitz, McCall and President
La Croix, Jr., (5).
NOES: None.
ABSENT: None.
