Amending certain portions of the alameda municipal code relating to traffic regulations
(26) On Island Drive, in the right
turn lanes, at the southeasterly and
southwesterly corners-of its inter-
section with Doolittle Drive.
Section 7. Section 17 -551 (Vehicles
Exceeding Stated Weight Prohibited)
of the Alameda Municipal Code is
hereby amended by amending subsec-
tlons (20), (24), and (42), thereof, to
read as follows:
(20) Island Drive from Mecartney
Road to Catalina Avenue and
Doolittle Drive to Maitland D ive.
(24) Maitland Drive, from Island
Drive to Fitchburg Avenue.
(42) Mariner Square Drive, for its
entire length.
Section 8. Section 17 -583 (35 Miles
Per Hour Prima Facie Limits) of the
Alameda Municipal Code is hereby
amended by amending subsection (1)
thereof, to read as to lows:
(1) Island Drive — South from
Doolittle to Mecartney.
Section 9. This ordinance is one of
great necessity and urgency within the
meaning of Section 3 -12 of the City
Charter, is introduced and passed at the
same Council meeting and shall
become effective on January 21, 1976.
Section 10. The facts constituting the
necessity and urgency hereof are:
1. That traffic regulations are es-
sential for the orderly flow and con-
trol of traffic within the City.
2. That such regulations should
necessarily be immediately effec-
tive on passage to insure that
maximum preservation of public
welfare is obtained.
3. That a potential health and
safety problem will exist if such
amendments are not immediately
effective.
4. That, in light of such potential
health and safety problems in-
volved, the normal delay between
enactment of this ordinance and its
effective date would be iniuripus.
5. This Council "hereby finds, de-
termines and declares that it is in the
best interest and necessity that this
ordinance be introduced and passed
at the regular meeting of the City
Council held January 20, 1976, and
that this ordinance become and be in
full force and effect January 21, 1976.
