AMENDING THE ALAMEDA MUNICIPAL CODE BY ADDING
SECTION 17 -3310 TO ARTICLE 3, CHAPTER 3, OF TITLE XVII
THEREOF ESTABLISHING VISION SAFETY PARKING ZONES
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA that:
Section 1 . The Alameda Municipal Code is hereby amended
by adding section 17 -3310 to Article 3, Chapter 3, of Title XVII
thereof to read as follows:
Sec. 17 -331 Vision Safety Parking Zones
(a) Vision safety parking zones, not in excess of
seventy -five feet (75') from the point of intersection of
curb lines extended, may be established by the Manager's
Traffic Advisory Committee.
(b) It shall be unlawful for any vehicle, except
passenger vehicles (including station wagons) less than
five .feet (5') in height with windows on all four sides
that are transparent and unobstructed, to park in an area
designated as a safety parking zone.
(c) The Manager's Traffic Advisory Committee shall
provide for the placement of signs marking vision safety
parking zones and which give notice that: "Passenger
vehicles (including station wagons) less than five feet
(5') in height with windows on all sides that are
transparent and unobstructed may park in the signed area.
All other vehicles are prohibited
Section 2 . This ordinance is one of great necessity and
urgency within the meaning of Section 3 -12 of the City Charter,
is introduced and passed at the same Council meeting and shall
become effective on
Section 3 . The facts constituting the necessity and
urgency hereof are:
1. That traffic regulations are essential for the orderly
flow and control of traffic within the City.
2. That such regulations should necessarily be immediately
effective on passage to insure that maximum preservation of public
welfare is obtained.
3. That a potential health and safety problem will exist
if such amendments are not immediately effective.
4. That, in light of such potential health and safety
problems involved, the normal delay between enactment of this

full force and effect January 19, 1977.

was duly and regularly adopted and passed by the Council of the City of
Alameda in regular meeting assembled on the 18th day of January, 1977, by
the following vote, to wit:
AYES: Councilmen Beckam, Diament, Hurwitz, Sherratt and
President Corica, (5).
NOES: None.
ABSENT: None.
