AMENDING CERTAIN PORTIONS OF THE ALAMEDA MUNICIPAL
CODE RELATING TO TRAFFIC REGULATIONS
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA that:
Section 1 . Article 4 of Chapter 3, Title XVII, of the
Alameda Municipal Code is hereby amended by adding Section
17 -344.2 thereto, to read as follows:
Sec. 17- 344.2 Twenty -four Minute Parking Limit
It shall be unlawful for any person, between the hours of
9:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. to park any vehicle or allow the
same to remain standing continuously for more than twenty -
four (24) minutes at any of the places hereinafter mentioned
in subdivisions of this section.
(1) Mariner Square Drive (northernmost end, 20' all
area inclusive)
(a) Commencing at a point 272' northerly of the
north line of Mitchell Avenue measured along the
west curb line of Mariner Square Drive and thence
at right angles to the street easterly a distance
of 50'.
Section 2 . Section 17 -342 (Two -Hour Limit) of the Alameda
Municipal Code is hereby amended by adding subsection (51) thereto,
to read as follows:
(51) Lincoln Avenue on the southerly side thereof,

beginning at a point 213.5 feet easterly from the easterly
line of Park Street and running thence easterly 63.5 feet.
Section 3 . Section 17 -431 (Through Highways) of the
Alameda Municipal Code is hereby amended by amending subsections
(3) and (4) thereof, to read as follows:
(3) Encinal Avenue from the easterly line of Sherman
Street to the easterly line of Fernside Blvd., excluding
however its intersections with Grand Street, Chestnut
Street, Willow Street, Oak Street, Park Street, Broadway,
and High Street.
(4) Fernside Blvd., from the northeasterly line of
Encinal Avenue to the westerly line of Pearl Street,
excluding however, its intersection with High Street.
Section 4 . Section 17 -432 (Stop Intersections) of the
Alameda Municipal Code is hereby amended by repealing subsection
(214) thereof.
Section 5 . This ordinance is one of great necessity and
urgency within the meaning of Section 3 -12 of the City Charter,
is introduced and passed at the same Council meeting and shall
become effective on May 25, 1977.
Section 6 . The facts constituting the necessity and
urgency hereof are:
1. That.traffic regulations are essential for the orderly
flow and control of traffic within the City.
2. That such regulations should necessarily be immediately

effective on passage to insure that maximum preservation of public
welfare is obtained.
3. That a potential health and safety problem will exist
if such amendments are not immediately effective.
4. That, in light of such potential health and safety
problems involved, the normal delay between enactment of this
ordinance and its effective date would be injurious.
5. This Council hereby finds, determines and declares
that it is in the best interest and necessity that this ordinance
be introduced and passed at the regular meeting of the City
Council held May 24, 1977, and this ordinance become and be
in full force and effect May 25, 1977.
