Ordinance 1913CITY OF ALAMEDA ORDINANCE NO. 1913 New Series AMENDING CERTAIN PORTIONS OF THE ALAMEDA MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING TO TRAFFIC REGULATIONS BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA that: Section 1 Section 17 -242 (Left Turns Prohibited) of the Alameda Municipal Code is hereby amended by adding subsection (5) thereto, to read as follows; (5) Garden Road and Island Drive, a sign shall be erected so as to prohibit left turns for vehicles traveling on Garden Road in a westerly direction onto Island Drive. Section 2 Section 17 -333 (All Time and Limited No Park- ing) of the Alameda Municipal Code is hereby amended by adding subsection (82) thereto, to read as follows: (82) Clement Avenue, on the northerly side thereof between a point 295 feet easterly of the easterly line of Oak Street and a point 22 feet easterly therefrom, between the hours of 4 p.m, and 5 p.m., Saturdays, Sundays and holidays excepted. Section 3 Section 17 -338 (Parking for Physically Handi- capped Persons) of the Alameda Municipal Code is hereby amended by amending subsections (a) and (b) thereof, to read as follows: (a) It shall be unlawful for any person whose vehicle does not display distinguishing license plates or placard issued to disabled persons pxrsuant to -1- Sections 22511.5 or 9105 of the California Vehicle Code to park on a street or other way marked with blue paint on the curb or edge of the street or way. (b) It shall be unlawful for any person whose vehicle does not display distinguishing license plate or placard issued to disabled persons pursuant to Sections 22511.5 or 9105 of the California Vehicle Code to park in a parking stall or space in a parking lot or facility posted by a sign immediately adjacent thereto and visible therefrom, consisting of a profile view of a wheelchair with occupant in white on a blue background. Section 4 Section 17 -341 (One -Hour Limit) of the Alameda Municipal Code is hereby amended by adding subsection (9) thereto, to read as follows: (9) Encinal Avenue on the southerly side thereof between a point 38.5 feet westerly of the west line of Walnut Street and running thence westerly 40.5 feet. Section 5 This ordinance is one of great necessity and urgency within the meaning of Section 3 -12 of the City Charter, is introduced and passed at the same Council meeting and shall become effective on April 5, 1978. Section 6 The facts constituting the necessity and urgency hereof are: 1. That traffic regulations are essential for the orderly flaw and control of traffic within the City. -2- 2. That such regulations should necessarily be immediately effective on passage to insure that maximum preservation of public welfare is obtained. 3. That a potential health and safety problem will exist if such amendments are not immediately effective. 4. That, in light of such potential health and safety problems involved, the normal delay between enactment of this ordinance and its effective date would be injurious. 5. This Council hereby finds, determines and declares that it is in the best interest and necessity that this ordinance be introduced and passed at the regular meeting of the City Council held April 4, 1978, and that this ordinance become and be in full force and effect April 5, 1978. 4 Presidi.
