AMENDING THE ALAMEDA MUNICIPAL CODE BY AMENDING
SECTION 13 -1922 OF CHAPTER 1 OF TITLE XIII THEREOF
RELATING TO LICENSE FEES FOR HOTEL, OFFICE BUILDING,
APARTMENT HOUSE, ETC. RENTALS
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA that:
Section 1 . The Alameda Municipal Code is hereby amended
by amending Section 13 -1922 of Article 9 of Chapter 1 of Title
XIII thereof, to read as follows:
Sec. 13 -1922 Hotel, Office Building, etc Every
person conducting, managing or carrying on a hotel, office
building, rooming house, bungalow court, auto court, motel,
apartment house, or any dwelling unit for rent, lease or
hire, shall pay an annual license fee of four Dollars
($4.00 ) for each and every room contained in any such
building; provided, however, not to exceed five (5) rooms,
used for the living quarters of the owner or manager of
such property shall be exempt from the provisions of this
section; and, provided further, that this section shall
not apply to a single - family dwelling on an existing lot
of record.
Section 2 . This ordinance provides for, and fixes the
rate of, a tax levy for the usual and current expenses of the
City, and pursuant to Section 3 -12 of the Charter of the City of
Alameda shall be in full force and effect at 1L:00 p.m. on
June 30, 1978. Provided, however, this ordinance shall be of no

force and effect in the event that Proposition 13 is not
adopted at the June 6, 1978 Primary Election of the State of
California.
Section 3 . It is the intent of this Council, in the
event that Proposition 13 is either held unconstitutional or the
State provides revenues lost through the passage thereof, to
repeal this ordinance thereafter.
