CITY OF ALAMEDA ORDINANCE NO. 1935 New Series AMENDING CERTAIN PORTIONS OF THE ALAMEDA MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING TO TRAFFIC REGULATIONS BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA that: Section 1 . Section 17 -338 (Parking for Physically Handi- capped Persons) of the Alameda Municipal Code is hereby amended by amending subsections (a) and (b) thereof to read as follows: (a) It shall be unlawful for any person whose vehicle does not display distinguishing license plates or placard issued to disabled persons pursuant to Sections 22511.5 or 9105 of the California Vehicle Code to park on a private or public street or other way marked by an appropriate sign and with blue paint on the curb or edge of the street or way. (b) It shall be unlawful for any person whose vehicle does not display distinguishing license plates or placard issued to disabled persons pursuant to Sections 22511.5 or 9105 of the California Vehicle Code to park in a parking stall or space in a private or public parking lot or facility posted by a sign immediately adjacent thereto and visible therefrom, consisting of a profile view of a wheelchair with occupant in white on a blue background. Section 2 . Section 17 -3311 (Parking in Designated Turn- out Areas) of the Alameda Municipal Code is hereby amended by an adding subsection (c) thereto to read as follows: (c) Bridgeway Road, on both sides thereof, and left -turn pockets from the easterly line of Catalina Avenue to the westerly line of Island Drive. Section 3 . Section 17 -341 (One -Hour Limit) of the Alameda Municipal Code is hereby amended by amending subsection (2) thereof to read as follows: (2) High Street, on the westerly side thereof, between a point northerly of the northerly line of Central Avenue and a point 56 feet southerly of the southerly line of Santa Clara Avenue, and between a point 98 feet northerly of the northerly line of Santa Clara Avenue and the southerly line of Liberty Avenue projected westerly. Section 4 . Section 17 -344.1 (24- Minute Parking Limit) of the Alameda Municipal Code is hereby amended by amending subsec- tion (10)(a) thereof to read as follows: (10) High Street (Santa Clara Avenue to Lincoln Avenue), commencing at a point in the (a) West curb line of High Street 22 feet northerly from the north line of Santa Clara Avenue and running thence northerly 60 feet. Section 5 . This ordinance is one of great necessity and urgency within the meaning of Section 3 -12 of the City Charter, is introduced and passed at the same Council meeting and shall become effective on September 6, 1978. -2- Section 6 . The facts constituting the necessity and urgency hereof are: 1. That traffic regulations are essential for the orderly flow and control of traffic within the City. 2. That such regulations should necessarily be immediately effective on passage to insure that maximum preservation of public welfare is obtained. 3. That a potential health and safety problem will exist if such amendments are not immediately effective. 4. That, in light of such potential health and safety problems involved, the normal delay between enactment of this ordinance and its effective date would be injurious. 5. This Council hereby finds, determines and declares that it is in the best interest and necessity that this ordinance be introduced and passed at the regular meeting of the City Council held September 5, 1978, and that this ordinance become and be in full force and effect September 6, 1978. Attest: PresI -d Officer of the Council ° z / City Clerk © U 0L C3 I -3- NOTICE AND DIGEST ORDINANCE N0. 1935, NEW SERIES AMENDING CERTAIN PORTIONS OF THE ALAMEDA MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING TO TRAFFIC REGULATIONS DIGEST (7) This ordinance amends the Alameda Municipal Code by /amending Section 17 -338 (Parking for Physically Handicapped Persons) by amending subsections (a) and (b) to read that (a) It shall be unlawful for any person whose vehicle does not display distinguishing license plates or placard issued to disabled persons pursuant to Sections 22511.5 or 9105 of the California Vehicle Code to park on a privatq or public street or other way marked by an appropriate sign and with blue paint on the curb or edge of the street or way; and (b) It shall be unlawful for any person whose vehicle does not display distinguishing license plates or placard issued to disabled persons pursuant to Sections 22511.5 or 9105 of the California Vehicle Code to park in a parking stall or space in a private or public parking lot or facility posted by a sign immediately adjacent thereto and visible therefrom, consisting of a profile view of a wheelchair with occupant in white on a blue background; (2) amending Section 17-3311 (Parking in Designated Turnout Areas) by adding subsection (c) restricting parking on Bridgeway Road; (3) amending subsection (2) of Section 17 -341 relating to One -Hour Parking Limit on Itkgkxa1xe*k the westerly side of High Street between a point northerly of the northerly line of Central Avenue and a point 56 feet southerly of the southerly line of Santa Clara Avenue, and between a point 98 feet northerly of the northerly line of Santa Clara Avenue and the southerly line of Liberty Avenue projected westerly; (4) amending subsection (2) of Section 17 -341 relating to Twenty -Four Minute Parking Limit on High Street (Santa Clara Avenue to Lincoln Avenue), commencing at a point in the west curb line of High Street 22 feet northerly from the north line of Santa Clara Avenue and running thence northerly 60 feet. I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Ordinance was duly and regularly adopted and passed by the Council of the City of Alameda in regular meeting assembled on the 5th day of September, 1978, by the following vote, to wit: AYES: Councilmen Beckam, Diament, Sherratt, Tillman, and President Corica, (5).
