AMENDING THE ALAMEDA MUNICIPAL CODE BY ADDING
ARTICLE 5 TO CHAPTER 2 OF TITLE IV THEREOF PROHIBITING
THE CONSUMPTION OF ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES ON PUBLIC
STREETS, SIDEWALKS AND RIGHTS -OF -WAY WITHIN THE CITY
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA that:
Section 1 . The Alameda Municipal Code is hereby amended
by adding Article 5 to Chapter 2 of Title IV thereof to read as
follows:
Article 5 Public Streets Sidewalks and
Rights -of -way
Sec. 4 -251 No person shall consume any alcoholic beverage
on any public street, sidewalk or right -of -way within the
City of Alameda. "Alcoholic beverage" includes alcohol,
spirits, liquor, wine, beer, and every liquid or solid
containing alcohol, spirits, wine, or beer which contains
one -half of one percent or more of alcohol by volume and
which is fit for beverage purposes either alone or when
diluted, mixed or combined with other substances.

Section 2 . This ordinance shall be in full force and effect
from and after the expiration of thirty (30) days from the date
of its final passage.

I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing
Ordinance was duly and regularly adopted and passed by the Council
of the City of Alameda in regular meeting assembled on the 4th
day of March, 1980, by the following vote, to wit:
AYES: Councilmen Diament, Tillman and President Corica - 3.
NOES: Councilmen Sherratt and Stone - 2.
ABSENT: None.
