EMERGENCY ORDINANCE AMENDING THE ALAMEDA MUNICIPAL
CODE BY ADDING SUBSECTION (31) TO SECTION 17 -344.1
THEREOF RELATING TO PARKING LIMIT ON CENTRAL AVENUE
WEST OF WALNUT STREET
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA that:
Section 1 . Section 17 -344.1 (Twenty -Four Minute Parking
Limit) of the Alameda Municipal Code is hereby amended by adding
subsection (31) thereto to read as follows:
(31) Central Avenue, commencing at a point in the
south curb line of Central Avenue 273 westerly of the
west curb line of Walnut Street and running thence
westerly 36 feet.
Section 2 . This ordinance is one of great necessity and
urgency within the meaning of Section 3 -12 of the City Charter,
is introduced and passed at the same Council meeting and shall
become effective on June 18, 1980.
Section 3 . The facts constituting the necessity and
urgency hereof are:
1. That traffic regulations are essential for the orderly
flow and control of traffic within the City.
2. That such regulations should necessarily be immediately
effective on passage to insure that maximum preservation of public
welfare is obtained.

3. That a potential health and safety problem will exist
if such amendment is not immediately effective.
4. That, in light of such potential health and safety
problems involved, the normal delay between enactment of this
ordinance and its effective date would be injurious.
5. This Council hereby finds, determines and declares

that it is in the best interest and necessity that this ordinance
be introduced and passed at the regular meeting of the City
Council held June 17, 1980, and that this ordinance become and
be in full force and effect June 18, 1980.

I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Ordinance
was duly and regularly adopted and passed by the Council the City
of Alameda in regular meeting assembled on the 17th day of June, 1980,
by the following vote, to wit:
AYES: Councilmen Diament, Sherratt, Stone, Tillman and
President Corica - 5.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: None.
