AMENDING THE ALAMEDA MUNICIPAL CODE BY ADDING
ARTICLE 5 TO CHAPTER 1 OF TITLE XVI AND BY AMENDING
SECTIONS 1 -512 AND 1- 521(a) THEREOF RELATING TO
INTERFERENCE WITH AND MISTREATMENT OF POLICE DOGS
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA that:
Section 1 . The Alameda Municipal Code is hereby amended by
adding Article 5 to Chapter 1 of Title XVI thereof to read:
Article 5 Police Dogs
Sec. 16 -151 Police Dogs. Interference With. Mis-
treatment of . No person shall willfully or maliciously
torture, torment, beat, kick, strike, mutilate, injure,
disable or kill any dog used by the County Sheriff or
Police Department in the performance of the functions or
duties of such department, or interfere with or meddle with
any such dog while being used by said department or any
member thereof in the performance of any of the functions
or duties of said department or of such officer or member.
Section 2 . Section 1 -512 of the Alameda Municipal Code
is hereby amended by adding subsection (x) thereto to read:
Sec. 1 -512 Violations Identified
(x) Title XVI, Chapter 1, Article 5.
Section 3 . Subsection (a) of Section 1 -521 of the Alameda
Municipal Code is hereby amended to read:
Sec. 1 -521 Authorized Persons
(a) Chief of Police - Subsections (b), (d), (g), (p),
(r), (v) and (x);

Section 4 . This ordinance shall be in full force and

effect from and after the expiration of thirty (30) days from
the date of its final passage.

City of Alameda in regular meeting assembled on the 21st day of
