Resolution 14327CITY OF ALAMEDA RESOLUTION NO. 14327
ENDORSING "EVERYONE HOME, THE ALAMEDA COUNTYWIDE
HOMELESS AND SPECIAL NEEDS HOUSING PLAN"
WHEREAS, chronic homelessness is a multi-dimensional problem that
goes beyond the City of Alameda's borders and any one service system; and
WHEREAS, the Everyone Home Plan provides an opportunity to work
more closely with our community and regional partners, to participate in a
national model and countywide strategies to end homelessness, while still
maintaining consistency with each participating jurisdiction's charter
requirements and land-use policies, and to coordinate and leverage resources;
and
WHEREAS, although the Everyone Home Plan ("the Plan") does not
require any participating agency to commit funding, City Council endorsement of
the Plan ("the Plan'') will likely make the City and Alameda County more
competitive for public and private grants of funding that look favorably upon
applications from jurisdictions that have endorsed the Plan; and
WHEREAS, at its May 5, 2009 regular meeting, the City County received
a report from its Interim City Manager regarding the proposed endorsement of
the Plan;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ALAMEDA THAT:
The City Council of the City of Alameda endorses the Everyone Home
Alameda Countywide Homeless and Special Needs Housing Plan.
