Resolution 11905CITY OF ALAMEDA RESOLUTION NO. 11905
AUTHORIZING THE DESTRUCTION OF CERTAIN
PERSONNEL DEPARTMENT RECORDS
WHEREAS, Government Code Section 34090 et seq. authorizes
City Department Heads to destroy those City records, documents,
instruments, books or papers after the same are no longer required
with the approval of the Legislative Body by Resolution, and the
written consent of the City Attorney; and
WHEREAS, the City attorney by memorandum of October 16,
1989 has consented to the destruction of those records, documents,
books or papers described in Exhibit A attached;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City
of Alameda that it does hereby authorize the Personnel Director to
c- destroy the City records documents, books or papers under her
,c charge as described in Exhibit B, attached hereto and made a part
---\.7Lhereof.
I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution
was duly and regularly adopted and passed by the Council of the
City of Alameda in regular meeting assembled on the 19th day of -
December , 1989, by the following vote to wit:
AYES: Councilxrembers Arnerichr Corridor Withrow and President Corica 4.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: Councilrrember Thomas - 1.
ABSTENTIONS: None.

Destruction of Records
In response to your memo of July 26, 1989, seeking to
destroy records stored for more than two years, you now have my
approval for the destruction of the following:
1. C.E.T.A. records through 1982.
2. General files, including correspondence of all types, at
least three (3) years old.
3. Examination files older than two (2) years,
including eligible lists, applications and working
papers.
4. Personnel files of deceased retirees leaving no
dependents.
5. Personnel files of C
.E.T.A. employees not working for
the City since before 1982.
6. Personnel files of separated employees after 2 years
absence from the City.
This approval is granted pursuant to California Government Code
Section 34090 (Deering, 1989). If you need anything further,
please let me know.
