AUTHORIZING THE FILING OF APPLICATIONS WITH
THE METROPOLITAN TRANSPORTATION COMMISSION FOR
ALLOCATION OF REGIONAL MEASURE 1-3% MONIES FOR
FISCAL YEARS 1989-91 AND REPEALING RESOLUTION
NO. 11919
WHEREAS, on January 16, 1990, the City Council of the
City of Alameda adopted Resolution 11919, authorizing staff to
apply to the Metropolitan Transportation Commission for Regional
Measure 1 monies to be used for weatherization of the Alameda
Gateway Ferry Terminal and for bike storage and access to Alameda
Gateway Ferry Terminal; and
WHEREAS, subsequent to Council's approval, additional
information has been _received which suggests that the City's
interests would be better served if the Regional Measure 1 - 3%
grant application were to be revised to request monies for a one-
year subsidy for ferry operations.
WHEREAS, the revised application to the Metropolitan
Transportation Commission would be jointly made with the Port of
Oakland, to reflect a joint ferry service; and
WHEREAS, the joint application of the City of Alameda
and the Port of Oakland will request approximately $600,000 over
two fiscal years to provide an operating subsidy for ferry services
between Oakland and Alameda to San Francisco.
WHEREAS, the City of Alameda will be required to provide
approximately $60,000 for the local match;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City
of Alameda that Resolution No. 11919 is hereby repealed; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager is
authorized to execute and file an appropriate claim pursuant to
applicable rules and regulations promulgated by same legislation
together with all necessary supporting documents, with the
Metropolitan Transportation Commission, for the fiscal years 1989-
91; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be -
transmitted to the Metropolitan Transportation Commission
conjunction with the filing of the claim and the Metropolitan 1.1:1i=V

Transportation Commission be requested to concur in these findings
and grant the allocations of funds as specified herein.
I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution
was duly and regularly adopted and passed by the Council of the
City of Alameda in special meeting assembled on the 22nd day of
January, 1990, by the following vote to wit:
AYES: Councilmembers Camicia, Thomas, Withrow and Acting
President Arnerich - 4
NOES: None
ABSENT: Mayor Corica - 1
ABSTENTIONS: None
