Resolution 11936CITY OF ALAMEDA RESOLUTION NO. 11936 AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF A CONTRACT WITH SIMON MARTIN -VEGUE WINKELSTEIN MORIS FOR THE PREPARATION OF SCHEMATIC DRAWINGS FOR USE IN ANALYSIS IN AN ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT OF THE FACILITY FOR A NEW LIBRARY WHEREAS, on February 21, 1989, the City Council of the City of Alameda designated the Linoaks Motel property as the future site for a new Main Library and directed staff to solicit requests for qualifications /proposals from architects so that the City could apply for Proposition 85 (California Library Construction and Revenue Bond Act of 1988) funds; and WHEREAS, on January 16, 1990, the City Council adopted a Resolution of Necessity, and on February 6, 1990 authorized the City Manager to execute documents necessary to effect the purchase and lease -back of the Linoaks Motel; and WHEREAS, five firms were selected in August, 1989 from a list of twenty -eight firms, and these five firms were interviewed and proposals were solicited from them; and based on the interviews, the five firms were ranked in order of preference for the purpose of beginning contract negotiations; and WHEREAS, the firm of Simon Martin -Vegue Winkelstein Moris, a firm specializing in libraries, placed first; and WHEREAS, the purpose of the architectural agreement is to prepare schematic drawings at a cost of approximately $155,000 y' for use in analysis in an environmental assessment of the facility; and WHEREAS, architect and engineering fees for the entire project are estimated at approximately $900,000, of which $155,000 is designated for the preparation of schematic drawings; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Alameda that the Mayor and the City Clerk be, and each hereby is, authorized and directed to execute and to attest to, respectively, on behalf of the City, an agreement with the firm of Simon Martin -Vegue Winkelstein Moris for the preparation of schematic drawings for use in analysis in an environmental assessment of the Linoaks facility for a new library. I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was duly and regularly adopted and passed by the Council of the City of Alameda in regular meeting assembled on the 20th day of February , 1990, by the following vote to wit: AYES: NOES: Councilmembers Arnerich, Camicia, Thomas, Withrow and President Corica - 5.
