Resolution 11955CITY OF ALAMEDA RESOLUTION NO. 11955 SUPPORTING ASSEMBLY BILL 145 CONCERNING THE CALIFORNIA PARK, RECREATION, AND WILDLIFE ENHANCEMENT ACT OF 1990 WHEREAS, Assembly Bill 145 also known as the California Park, Recreation, and Wildlife Enhancement Act of 1990 will be brought before the voters at the June 5, 1990 primary election; and WHEREAS, AB 145, if approved will provide State General Obligation Bonds in the amount of $874,000.000 to finance specified programs for the acquisition, development, rehabilitation, or restoration of real property for wildlife, park, beach, recreation, coastal, historic, and museum purposes; and WHEREAS, it is the policy of the State to preserve, protect, and where possible, restore coastal resources which are of significant recreational or environmental importance and, through proper planning and development, to make them available for the enjoyment of present and future generations of citizens of California; and WHEREAS, Californians have expressed a high priority for: (1) Protection for wildlife and environmental areas. (2) Developed campgrounds. (3) Museums, historic and archaeological sites, zoos and aquariums. (4) Recreational trails. (5) Recreational facilities accessible to the handicapped. (6) Informal play and picnic areas; and WHEREAS, the City of Alameda would welcome State grant revenue to assist with the restoration and rehabilitation of several recreational facilities and historic preservation sites. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT the City Council of the City of Alameda is in support of Assembly Bill 145 and respectfully requests that the members of the State Assembly votem„ in favor or the measure so as to allow its placement on the June:4— 5, 1990 primary election ballot. 73000 ,e0, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be transmitted to Assembly Member J. Costa.
