Resolution 12012CITY OF ALAMEDA RESOLUTION NO. 12012
AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF A COMMUNICATIONS CONTROL
CENTER SYSTEM FOR THE POLICE DEPARTMENT PURSUANT TO
SECTION 3 -15 OF THE CITY CHARTER.
WHEREAS, the current communications control center system
of the Alameda Police Department is twelve years old and had a
design life of ten years; and
WHEREAS, in order for the Police Department to maintain
its police, fire and emergency medical service capabilities, a new
communication control center must be purchased; and
WHEREAS, Motorola is the only company that can guarantee
complete compatibility with the current radio system and mobile
data terminal system; and
WHEREAS, Motorola insures reliable maintenance service
and parts availability of all of their equipment; and
WHEREAS, purchase of the new communications control
center from Motorola would be, overall, at a lower price because
the existing radio system and mobile data terminal system would not
have to be replaced or modified; and
WHEREAS, Section 3 -15 of the City Charter provides that
the City Council, by four affirmative votes, can authorize an open
market purchase if it determines that the materials or supplies can
be purchased at a lower price in the open market.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council
approves the open market purchase of a Centracom II Series control
center system from Motorola, in cooperation with the City
Purchasing Agent, at a cost of $160,459.95.
I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution
was duly and regularly adopted and passed by the Council of the
City of Alameda in regular meeting assembled on the 4th day of
September , 1990, by the following vote to wit:
AYES: Councilmembers Arnerich, Camicia, Withrow and
President Corica - 4.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: None.
ABSTENTIONS: Councilmember Thomas - 1.
