Resolution 12113CITY OF ALAMEDA RESOLUTION NO. 12113
AUTHORIZING GRANT APPLICATION TO THE DEPARTMENT OF
FORESTRY FOR THE PURCHASE OF STREET TREES
WHEREAS, the City of Alameda values street trees as a
natural resource and recognizes the benefits trees bring to the
urban environment; and,
WHEREAS, the completed street tree inventory has shown
that there are at least 5,000 locations where new street trees
may be planted; and,
WHEREAS, the Public Works Department is responsible for
planting and maintaining of the City's street trees and is
desirous of increasing the amount of street trees in areas where
no trees presently exist and has identified certain streets and
residential neighborhoods that could benefit from the planting of
new street trees; and,
WHEREAS, the State Department of Forestry is offering
grant assistance for the purchase of new street trees such as
being proposed by the Public Works Department; and,
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the
City of Alameda that Robert L. Warnick, Public Works Director, is
hereby authorized to execute for and on behalf of the City of
2fAlameda, a public entity established under the laws of the State
of California, o a grant application to the Department of Forestry
for the purchase of new street trees.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of Alameda, a
-'tpublic entity established under the laws of the State of
California, hereby authorizes the Public Works Director to
provide to the State Department of Forestry for all matters
pertaining to such grant assistance the assurances and agreements
required.
I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution
was duly and regularly adopted and passed by the Council of the
City of Alameda in regular meeting assembled on the fourth of
June, 1991, by the following vote to wit:
AYES: Councilmembers Arnerich, Camicia, Lucas, Roth
and President Withrow - 5.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: None.
ABSTENTIONS: None.
