OPPOSING ABANDONMENT OF THE SOUTHERN PACIFIC
CROSS-TOWN SERVICE. BETWEEN CAZLAND AND ALICEDA.
WHEREAS, on April 12, 1923, a letter was published in a San Prancieco newspaper
purporting to come from the general manager of the Southern Pacific Company dealing with
the eross-town service now furnished by said company between Oakland and Alameda, stating
therein that it is the intention of the Southern Pacific Company to abandon said service,
AND WHEREAS, the matter of abandoning said service was recently taken up and
considered by the Commission under Application Nu. 6560, whereupon, after due hearing
in the matter, the Commission rendered its Decision No. 9428 prohibiting the abandon..
ment of said service, new therefore, it is hereby
RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Alameda that said Council nroteste
against the abandonment of the crose-tomn street car service between Oakland and Alameda,
and respectfully requests the Railroad Commission to exercise its authority to prohibit
any such action on the part of the railroad uompany.
RESOLVED. that a certified copy of this resolution be sent to the Railroad
Cummieeion, and ether copies furnished to the press.
