RESOLUTION ORDERING THE WORK (Calhoun Street).
WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Alameda did on the 17th day of February,
1925, pass its Resolution of Intention No, 76, N. S., to order the hereinafter de*
scribed work to be done and improvement to be made in said city, which Resolution
of Intention was duly and legally published as required by law, us appears from the
affidavit of E. Erwin Crane now on file in the office of the clerk of said city;
and whereas, notices of the passage of said Resolution of Intention No. 76, N. S.
headed "Notice of Improvement" were duly and legally posted along the lire of said
contemplated work and improvement and in front of all the property liable to be
assessed therefor, and on and along each and every open street and highway in the
assessment district described in said Resolution of Intention, in time, form, manner
and number as required by law, after the passage of said Resolution of Intention,
as appears from the affidavit of Lenn C. Nelson, who personally posted the same,
and who, upon the completion of the posting of said notices, forthwith filed said
affidavit in the office of the clerk, making oath that he completed the posting of
said notices on the 26th day of February, 1925; and whereas, all protests or object-
tions presented have been heard and disposed of in time, form and manner as required
by law, and said Council having now acquired jurisdiction to order the proposed
improvement, it is hereby
RESOLVED, that the public interest and convenience require the work herein
described and the Council of the City of Alameda hereby orders the following work to
be done and improvement to be made in said city, to-wit;
That the following portionu of Calhoun Street be graded,
curbed, guttered and paved, to-wit;
The northerly half of Calhoun Street tetween a
line drawn parallel with and distant 140.08 feet east-
erly from the easterly line of Broadway;
The northerly half of Calhoun Street between the
easterly line of Versailles Avenue and the westerly
line of College Avenue; and
The northerly half of Calhoun Street between a
line drawn parallel with and distant 110.45 feet east-
erly from the easterly line of College Avenue, running
thence easterly 109.34 feet.
That the following portions of Calhoun Street be graded,
guttered and paved, to-wit;
The northerly half of Calhoun Street between a
line drawn parallel with and distant 90 feet westerly
from the westerly line of Pearl Street;
The northerly half of Calhoun Street betwe54 a
line drawn parallel with and distant 128.50 feet east-
erly from the easterly line of Pearl Street; and
The northerly half of Calhoun Street between a
Line drawn parallel with and distant 41.75 feet west-
erly from the westerly line of Versailles Avenue and
running thence westerly 43 feet;.
That the intersections of Pearl Street and Calhoun Street
Versailles Avenue and Calhoun Street, College Avenue and Calhoun
Street, and Mound Street and Calhoun Street, te graded, curbed,
guttered, gutter-bridged, paved, and have corrugated iron culverts
constructed thereon.
All of said work shall be done in accordance with the
plans and specifications adopted therefor and now on file in the
office of the city clerk.
The City Clerk is hereby instructed to post a notice of said work, together
with the plans and specifications therefor, conspicuously for five days on or near the
council chamber door, of said city inviting sealed proposals or bids for doing the work
ordered. Said clerk is also directed to publish twice, a notice inviting such proposals,
and referring to the specifications posted or on file, in the Alameda Times Star, a daily
newspaper published and circulated in said city and hereby designated for that purpose.
All proposals or bids shall be accompanied by a check payable to the City of
Alameda certified by a responsible bank for an amount which shall not be less than ten
per cent of the aggregate of the proposal, or by a bond for the said amount and so pay-
able, signed by the bidder and two sureties, who shall justify, before any officer com-
petent to administer an oath, in double the said amount, and over and above all statutory
exemptions.
Said sealed proposals or bids shall be delivered to the city clerk of the
Council of said city, on or before 6 o'clock p. m., on Tuesday, the 7th day of April,
1925, said time being not less than ten days from the time of the first posting and
publication of the notice of said work and inviting sealed proposals, on which day
and hour all proposals or bids will be publicly opened by said Council.
I hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was duly and regularly
adopted by the Council of the City of Alameda at a regular meeting thereof held.
