Resolution 01025-ARESOLUTION '.0. 1025-A. RESOLUTION ENDORBING THE CARMEL-SAN SIMON HIGHWAY. WHEREAS, the people of the State oT California, at the general election of 1919, J15 approve a measure outlining a system 3 state highvays to be completed in this State, and did vote a bond issue in the sum of forty million dollars for the same, and HEREAS, of the system of roads planned under the said bond issue, there still remains to te completed semeral important links in Abet is generally knoun as the Pacific Shore Lino Route, This highway runs from San Juan Capistrano through Santa Monica, Ventura, Oxnard, idaimta Barhara $an Luis Obispo, Lo Simeon, Carmel, Monterey, Watsonville 'in Santa Crtz, and thence by the Sky Line Boulevard to San Yrancisce. This route, uhen completed, will be the most speotaanlry, awewinspiriag, scenic highway in all California, if not ,a the entire world, open three hundred sixty- five 0 in the year, developing large aroas of agricultural, grazirym timber and mineral lands, and giving access; to the fareous MontoreymSanta Barbara National Forest, one of 3h32 state's largest and finest sectiorz of public park lands, uhere free fishing, hunting and camping grounds for thousands abound, an attraction to the tourist, and cannectig Inc Angeles with an 1?rancisco over a route of uhperallzled fertility, beauty, history mod romance, besides being of great strategic and_ military importarpe, ana WHEREAS, it is deemed highly important from a point of public safety that this road, be complmted to relieve the present and ever inereasino congestion on the tug) greet interior 'valley trosak lines, aud especially over the Cuasta grade, and WHEREAS, under the provisions of ar, act of the State Logislaturh, an. advisory committee has been named to assist in k3; •g cut the solution of financing the state highmay system and further extensions thereof, in Meeting. with the wish of the voters of the State cf California, and HEREAS, finances ape practically assure1 for future nay( constructien as well as renewal and maintenance, it is deemed but fair and just that the nine central oaast counties should have allocated to this great project a fair and just portion of the funds,- to keep up continuous construction and thus open up to the public at the earliest possible date thia all important section of the state system of highways, NOW THEREMOREL BE IT hereby' petition his Excelleary Arnim, Honorable Harvey M. Toy, President State Highway Commis- sion, Robert M. Morton, State Engineering Department, as being the sense of this meet- ing amd declaring the completion of thp said route and especially the closing of the thirty-eight mile gap highly' desirable at the earliest possible date.
