WEIREAS. the chief of police of tha city of Alameda d18 on. the ZOth day of
March, 192C, notify the city,counsil of the existence of a nuisance at 2331 Lincoln
Avenue in said city as defined by' Ordinance No. 153, N. S., said raisance being. in
the form of a Chinese lottery,
AND WhEREAS,
It appeare that the chinf of police found. that such a lottery
was bedng conducted in said building on November 25, 1925, and forthwith notified.
F. A. MoCann, the owner thereof, and ordered him to abate said nuisance immediately,
as provind. by the terms of Section 2 of said ordinance,
AND WHIEEAS, on March 20, 1926, it was found that a Chinese lottery. was
again beina conducted. in said building and that said. nuisance haa not been suppressed
and kept effectually suppressed for a peaiod of ohe yebr next after the service of
said notice,
AND WHEPEAS, said. P. A. McCann, the owner of said building, was notified
to apnear and. did appeaa before the city council at its >8 11 meeting hEaa in the
council chamber of the city hall of said city' Tuesday evening, April.. 20, 1926, at
8 o'clock p. Ifs, to shew cause, if any he had, Why said. nuisance Should not be
abated and suppressed and said building closed and kept closed for a period of
one year against its use for any purpose whatooewer, unless sooner released as
provided by .sai3 . ordinance, which said hearing was continued "0 tame to time,
up to and including this 6th day of July, 1926,
IND WillIfEAS, the testimony of witnesses aka other evidence was 'submitted
and considered by the council, and the council being satisfied that the charges
regarding said premises are true,
It is hereby ordered that ea id pkemises at 2331 Linnoln Avenue .10 the
building thereon be olosed up and kept closed for a period (, one yeak next here-
after, and that during this period said building and premises shall be and remain
in the custody of the police department of the City of Alameda. •
