SUBMITTING TO THE ELECTORS OP THE CITY OF ALAMEDA THE QUESTION
OF EXCLUDING CERTAIN UNINHABITED TERRITORY THEREFROM.
WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Alameda did on the 24th day of January,
1927, receive a written petition under and pursuant to the provisions of the act of
the legislature entitled "An act to provide for changing the boundaries of cities and
municipal corporations, and to exclude uninhabited territory therefrom", approved June
11, 1913, which petition has been duly and regularly filed, asking that the boundaries
of the city be altered, and certain uninhabited territory be exeluded therefrom, the
territory proposed to be thus excluded being described as follows:
All the territory in Brooklyn basin situate, lying and being
between the center line of the south ohennel and the center line
of the north or Brooklyn channel, including the island which has
teen created between said channels and riach is commonly known as
"Government Island",
AND WHEREAS, after examination of said petition by the city clerk and upon
receiving his certificate to the effect that he had compared the signatures attached
to said petition with the signatures on the original affidavits of registration, and
that as a result of his examination said petition was sufficient as required by law,
whereupon this council did find that said setition had been signed by more than one-
tenth in number of the qualified electors of said city (computed on the number of votes
cast at the last general municipal election held therein, end whereas the council there-
upon notified the Board of Supervisors of Alameda County of the fact of filing such
petition and reouested that said board of supervisors give notice and provide for a
hearing thereon in the time, form and manner required by said act,
AND WHEREAS, it appears that said notice was duly and regularly published
by said board of supervisors in the time, form and manner required by said act, and
that said hearing was held in the meeting rooms of the beard of supervisors in the
City of Oakland on the 7th day. of February, 1927, after which said board of supervi-
sors passed a resolution consenting to the exclusion of said uninhabited territory
by the City of Alamedn, now therefore it is hereby
RESOLVED, by the Council of the City of Alameda, that there shall be sub-
mitted to the electors of said city at the regular municipal election to be held
therein on Tuesday, Match 6, 1927, the question whether or not said territory pro-
posed to be excluded shall be excluded from said city, said territory being partic-
ularly described as follows:
All the territory in Brooklyn basin situate, lying and being
between the center line of the south channel and the center line
of the north or Brooklyn channel, including the island which has
been created between said channels and which is commonly known as
"Government Island".
Notice of said election shall be published in the Alameda Times-Star, a daily
newspaper printed in said city, et least once a week for a period of two weeks next pre-
ceding said election in the time, for and manner required by said act.
I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was duly
and regularly introduced and adopted by the council of the city of Alameda in adjourned
regular meeting aseembled on the 7th day of B'ebruary, 1927, by the following vote, to wit:
AYES: Councilmen Latham, Heise, Noble, Traver and -President Otis, (5).
NOES: None.
