Resolution 01715"RESOLUTION NO. 1715, IN RE: FEDERAL TAXES - REVENUE ACT OF 1932. OHBHEAD, it has came to our attention that certain Federal Agencies contemplate submitting to Congress certain amendments to the Revenue Act cf 1932, which amendments will, In cur opinion, result in a tax burden upon States, State Agencien and/or pub- licly owned utilities, and, WEERDAD, we 320 of the opinion that any tax created by Congress which results in Lo e imposition of any burden upon Statea, Stntep Agencies and/or publicly owned utilities is contrary to public poliby. VOW, THEREFORE, EE IT RESOLVED that we, the City Council of the City of ALaredo, State or California, protest any Federal texation daich imposes, or may be interpreted to impose, a burden upon States, State Agencies and/or publicly owned. utilities. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that we recommend the adoption of the following amendments to the Revenue Act of 1932 1. In the enforcement of the Revenue At of 1932 the Federal Government shall no inpese an obligation upon any State Or territory or political subdivision thereof, or the District of Columbia, or on the officers ur emaleyees ('1 the aforesaid. The term "political. subdivision" includes any district created under the. laws of a State or territory for the purpose of constructing or oper- ating any pnblic utility. DE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Senators Johnson and Shortridge and Representative Carter of the 7th Congressional District of California, be and they sac hereby urged to assist in protesting any such tax and to submit the above amendments to their respective bodies for immediate passage. BE IT FURTHERi RESOLVED that accredited representatives from the cities of San Fran- cisco, Los Angeles and Mie East Bsy Municipal Utility District be, and they are hereby authorized and requested, ih tbe name of the City of Alameda to protest any such tax. 1, the undeTsigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was duly and regul- arly introduced and adopted by the Council of the City of Alameda in regular meeting ansembled co . the 3rd day of January, 1933, by the following vote, to-wit: AYES: Councilmen Loydecker, Shanly and MOriCiS.
