AUTHORIZING SURVEY OF OLD HULKS AND ABANDONED
VESSELS IN ALAIIEDA =BOB AS AN SERA PROJECT,
AND APPROPRIATING CERTAIN SUMS OF MONEY TO DE-
FRAY THE EXPENSES TIE.REOF.
WHEREAS the City of Alameda has heretofore enacted Ordinance No. 521 New
Series, providing among other things for the removal of abandoned vessels and
watercraft within the harbor of the City of Alameda, and whereas., as a prelimin
ary step in connection with the enforcement of said Ordinance, it is necessary
that a survey be made of old hulks, and abandoned vessels now on the waterfront
of Alameda Harbor, and the securing of the data, and formulation of plans and
methods of operation for removal of such hulks and abandoned vessels, and the
workins up of eatiaates ef cost, and
NEEREAS the Port of Oakland has heretofore initiated, end is now conduct-
ing, a similar survey in and about the Port of Oakland and the Estuary between
the City of Alameda and the City of Oakland as a State Emergency Relief Adminis-
tration project,
NOW =EFORE, BE IT RE301,VED BY THE COUNCIL OF TEE CITY OF AlAIUDA, that
the City of Alameda join with the Port of Oakland in making a preliminary survey
of old hulks and abandoned vessels now on the waterfront of Alameda Rarbor,and
the securing of the date and formulation: of plans and methods of operation for
removal of such hulks and abandoned vessels, and the working up o±' estimates of
cost;
Be it further resolved that the City of Alameda join with the Port of Oak-
land in making application to the proper authorities for the institution and
completion of such preliminary survey as a State Emergency Relief Administrat-
ion project;
Be it further resolved that the City Manager is hereby authorized and direct-
ed to make application, and to take all the necessary steps, tc carry out the in-
tents and purposes of this resolution, and to appoint a suitable person or persons
to supervise and direct such project, and to furnish such equipment as may be nec-
essary in connection therewith;
Be it further resolved that the sum of Two Hundred Dollars ($200) is hereby
appropriated and set aside to defray the cost of personal services and equipment
to be furnished in connection with such survey and project.
I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was duly and
regularly introduced and adopted by the Council of the City of Alameda in regular
meeting assembled on the 4th day of September, 1934, by the following vote, to wit;
AYES: Councilmen Bruzzone, Eschen, Morris and President Murray, (4).
NOES: None.
ABSENT: Councilmen Tiedemann, (1). -
