DIRECTING THE MAYOR TO I391J, AND THE CITY
CLERK TC ATTEST AND TO CAUSE TO BE PUBLISHED
PFCCLAEATION AND NOTICL OF SPECIAL ELECTIONS.
WHEREAS a special municipal election has been called and ordered to
be held in tha City of Alameda on Tuesday, March 12, 1935, in accordance
with the provisions and requirements of the Charter of said City, for the
purpose of electing commissioners on the Board of Pollee and Fire Commiss-
ioners and on the Board of Public Utilities Commissioners of said City,
aud,
WHEREAS a special election has been called and ordered to be held
in the City of Alameda on Tuesday, March 12, 1935, for the purpose of
submitting to the qualified electors of said city a proposal for amending
the Charter of said ity of Alameda, in words and .figures as follows:
PROPOSAL NO. 1 .
That there be added to Article X of the
Charter of the City of Alameda a new section,
to be known as Section 19, and which shall
read as follows: .
Sec. 19. Notwithstanding anything to
the contrary in this article contained, unless
and until the assent of two-thirds of the oual-
ified voters of tie City voting on the proposit-
ion at a general or special election at which
the proposition shall be lawfully submitted, shall
be obtained, neither the City nor the Department
of Public Utilities shall: (1) issue any revenue
or other bonds or incur any indebtedness maturing
more than one year after the date thereof, or
(2) enter into any contract, either conditional
or unconditional, creating a charge on the rev-
enues derived or to be derived from any public
utility servics or business for a longer period
than one year, or, (3) engage in or acquire any
public utility service or business in which toe
City or said Department is not now engaged.

WHEZAS the special municipal election called for the purpose of
electing commissioners to the office of commissioner on the Board of
Police and Fire COMEISEA01101°E and on the Board uf Public Utilities
Commissioners has been consolidated with the special election called
for the purpose of submitting said proposal for unending the Charter of
the City of Alameda, and it has been ordered that the election precincts,
Dolling places and votin booths for each of said special elections be in
eery case the same, that there be only one set of election officers in
each of such precincts., and that said special elections be held in all
respects as if there were only one election, and only one ticket or ballot
be used thereat.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE. COUNCIL OF T1 CITY OF ALAMEDA
that the Nayor be, and he is hereby, directed to issue, and the City Clerk
be, and he is hereby, directed to attest and to cause to be published three
times in the Alameda Times-Star, e proclamation end notice of such special
elections, in the following form, to-wit:

City Council of the City of Alameda a special municipal election

State of California, on Tuesday, March 12, 1935, for the purpose
of electing commissioners on the Board of Police and Fire Commis-
sioners and on the Board of Public, Utilities Commissioners of said
City, aa follows:
Three Commissioners on the Board of Police and Fire Commission-
ers, for terms as follows:
One Commissioner on said Board who shall hold office until the
third succeeding general city election, and until his successor is
elected and qualified.
One Commissioner on said Board who ahall hold office until the
second succeeding general city election, and until his successor
is elected and qualified.
One Commissioner on said Board who Aia11 hold office until the
next succeeding general city election, and until his successor is
elected and qualified.
Five Commissioners on -the Board of Public Utilities Commission-
ers, for terms as follows
Three Commissioners an said Board, each of whom shall hold
office until the second succeeding general city election, and until
his successor is elected and qualified.
Two Commissioners on said Board, each uf whom shall hold office
until the next succeeding general city election, and until his success-
or is elected and qualified.

PROCLAMXPION AND NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVER that by order of the
City Council of said city, an election has been culled and ordered to be
held in said :City on said 12th day of March, 19355, for the purpose of sub-
mitting to the electors thereof the following proposal for amending the
Charter of the City of Alameda, to-wit:

Board of Police and Fire Commissioners and
on the board of Public Utilities Commiss-
ioners has been consolidated with the spec-
ial election called for the purpose of sub
mitting said proposal for amending the
charter of the City of Alameda; that the
election Precincts, polling places and
voting booths for each of said special
elections shall be the same in every ease;
that there shall be only one set of election
officers in each of such precincts, and said
special elections shall be held in all res-
pects as if there were only one election,
and only one ticket or ballot shall be used
thereat.
