EXPRESSING APPRECIATION AND THA1 K3 TO
H. D. MAYNARD
AND THE EMPLOYMENT BUREAU 00MVITTEL„
WHEREAS the City of Alameda Employment Bureau was created for the purpose
of rendering financial assistance to, and finding employment for, residents
of Alameda who, by reason of widespread unemployment existing throughout the
country, were in financial distress, and in need of the common necessities of
life, and
WHEREAS said Bureau has carried out in splendid, efficient and humane
manner the purposes for which it was created, and
WBEREAS the success of said Bureau was due in great part to the ability,
devotion and untiring efforts: of its manager and director, H. D. Maynard, who,
from the time of the creation of said Bureau, three and one-half years: ago,
to the present time, gave, and is now giving, unstintingly, of his time and
energy, without receiving any renumerstion or monetary consideration therefor
whatsoever,
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA that
a vote of appreciation and thanks be extended on behalf of this Council, and
of the citizens of Alameda, to all the members of the :Employment Bureau Commi-
ttee, and in particular to said H. D. Maynard.
RESOLVED FURTHER that it is the sense of this Council that said Committee
and said Bureau should be continued in existence until such time as the need
thereof shall have subsided, and other means and agencies found to carry on
its work.
I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was duly
and regularly introduced and adopted by the Council of the City of Alaheda in
adjourned regular meeting assembled on the 12th day of April, 1935, by the
following vote, to wit:
YES: Councilmen &schen, Morris, Roebke, Tiedemann and President
turray, (5).
OiS: - None.
ABSENT: None.
IN TESTIMONY' WHEREOF', I have hereunto set my hand and affixed the official
