Resolution 01953RESOLUTION NO, 1953.
RN YACHT RBOR.
'VERNA'S, reeldents of the City of Alameda interested in yachting and
acquatio sports have reenested the Council to proceed with the construction
of a yacht harbor in and for the City, said yacht harbor to be municipally
owned and operated; and,
WHEBEAS, a conservative estimate of the probable net receipts to be
derived therefrom show that a municipal yacht harbor would not only pay
operating expenses and interest, but would also pay off the capital invest-
ment within twenty-five years; and,
WHEREAS, it is believed that a considerable portion oT the necessary
money nay be obtained from funds appropriated by the "" Emergency Relief
Appropriation Act of 1935," and the Whole enterprise entirely financed without
imposing any expense whatsoever on the taxpayers of the city; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED that the City Attorney be, and he is hereby, directed to make
application to the Yederal Emergency =idministration of Public Works for the
maximum grant obtainable for said yacht harbor; end that the Nayer, and other
necessary officials be, and they are hereby, anthcrized and directed to ex-
ecute said application for and on behalf of the City. '
RESOLVED further that the matter of financing eny balance necessary to
enable the construction of said yacht harbor be referred to a joint committee
consisting of the City Council and the Board of Public Utilities Commissioners;
provided that any plan for fina.neing said balance shall be worked out in such
manner that the taxpayers of the City will not be subjected to any pecuniary loss
hatsoever.
