AWARDING CONTRACT FOR NEWSPAPER ADVERTISING TO TEE
META jOUBJNAL, R. L. BROCK, PUBLISHER.
WHEREAS, on May 19, 1936, the Council published a natioe in the Alameda
Times Star calling for bids for publishing and advertising ordinances, legal notices
and other matters as are required by law to be published, for and during the period
of one year; and,
WHEREAS, in response to said notice two bids were received as follows:
From Times-Star Publishing Company, by H. G. Spaulding, President:
General rate for ordinances, legal notices and such
other matters as the Council may be required by law
to publish, except delinquent tax list.

WHEREAS, it appears that The Alameda Journal, published by R. L. Brock, is
the successful bidder, and will have been published a year and, therefore, become a
newspaper of general circulation on Friday, June 5, 1936; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, by the Council of the City of Alameda, that the contract for such
advertising be, and the same is hereby, awarded to the /west responsible bidder, to
wit, The Alameda Journal, R. L. Brock, publisher; at the prices named in his bid.
RESOLVED, that the Mayor be, and he is hereby, authorized, for anon behalf
of the City of Alameda, to execute a contract with said The Alameda Journal, R.L.
Brock Publisher, on and as of June 5, 1936, for the period of one year, for newspaper
advertising of ordinances, legal notices and such other matters as are required by
law to be published.
I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution. was duly
and regularly introduced and adopted by the Council of the City of Alameda in ad-
journed regular meeting assembled on the 23rd day of May, 1936, by the following vote,
to wit:
AYES: "Councilmen Broyles, Munro and President Roebke, (3).
NOES: None.
ABSENT: Councilmen Eschen and Morris, (2).
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and affixed the official
seal of said City this 25th day of May, 1936.
