AUTHORIZING PERFORMANCE ANL COMPLETION OF PROJECT FOR
THE IMPROVEMENT OF OTIS DR:17E, DIRECTING CLERK TO
ADVERTISE FOR SEALED BIDS.
WHEREAS the City ef Alameda, pursuant to the provisions of Section 203
of the Streets and Highways Code, and the rules and regulations promulgated thereunder
for administering the provisions thereof, submitted to the Director of Public Works
of the State of California its project for the improvement, under the provisions of
said. Code, of Otis Drive in said city, from the easterly property lire of Mound Street,
easterly 1818 feet to the Bay Farm Island Bridge, including grading, constructing a
6" crusher run base, 4" of A.C. Asphaltic Concrete wearing surface, concrete curbs
and gutters„ .butter bridges, corrugated iron culverts, concrete catchbasins and a
reinforced concrete retaining wall, and
VivETREAS said project and construction work therein contemplated hat been
approved by said Director of Public Works, and the moneys required to cover the cost
of said project have been allocated, and the expenditure thereof authorized and
approved, and whereas a contraot or "Memorandum of Agreement" between the City of
Alameda and the Department of Public Works of the State of California was heretofore
jointly executed by the City on January 5, 1937,and by the said Department on. January
12, 1937, and
WHEREAS plans and specifications for the improvement and work hereinbefore
referred to have been prepared by, and are now on file in, the office of the City
Engineer of the City of Alameda, and have been approved by said Director of Public
Works,
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JLsLELt, that
the performance and completion of the work specified in said project be, and the
same is hereby, authorized.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk be, and he is hereby author-
ized and directed to advertise for sealed bids for the furnishing of labor and
material required for the completion of said project and improvement, in accordance
with said plans and specifications.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that each. bid shall be accompanied by a certified
ehck, an a responsible bank, in a sum equal to ten per cent (10%) of the aggregate
amount of the bid, payable to the City of Alameda, to be forfeited to said City as
agreed and liquidated damages- should the party or parties to whom the contract
shall be awarded fail, for e period of thirty days from such award, to enter into
a contract for the performance and completion of such work, or to give bonds as
required by law and by the specifications horeinabove referred to,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that such sealed bids will be received by the
City Clerk of the City of Alameda at his office until Tuesday, the 16th day of
March, 1937, at 8:00 o'clock P.M. of said day. All bids must be in writing. The
Council reserves the right to reject any and all bids.

duly and regularly introduced and adopted by the Council of the City of Alameda
in regular meeting assembled on the 2nd day of March, 1957, by the following vote,
to wit:
AYES: Councilmen Calcutt, Maurer, Morris, Weichhart and President Eschen,

NOES: None, ABSENT: None,
