Resolution 02149RESOLUTION NO. 2149
APPROVING ACTION OF CALIFORNIA RAILROAD COMMISSION
IN REQUESTING BUDGET INCREASE.
WHEREAS, this Council has been informed that the California Railroad Com-
mission of the State of California has submitted a report to the California State
Assembly Ways and Means Committee, requesting an increase in its budget for the
biennium 1937-1939, and
WBEREAS, the California Municipal Utilities Association is urging the
Legislature to increase the Railroad Commission's budget to a point where that Com-
mission may carry on electric rate investigations, it being reported that with its
present funds it cannot properly perform the regulatory functions outlined in the
Public Utilities At of the State of California, and
WHEREAS, it is believed that should the rate structure of the Pacific
Gas and Electric Company be thoroughly investigated it will result in a reduction
of the P-6 electric rate schedule under which the City of Alameda is purchasing
electrical energy, in view of the fact that this rate schedule has not been reduced
in over twelve years, and the failure to reduce same in proportion to reductions
made in other electric rate schedules appears to be a discrimination against °con-
sumers served under the P-6 schedule;

the State Legislature be urged to approve the Railroad Commission's budget request
dated March 1, 1937, increasing the appropriation for the Commission's use to a sum
of $1,091,130.00, and
