AWARDING CONTRACT FOR FURNISHING, ROTOR PICX-UP SWEEPER
TO ELGIN SWEEPER COMFANY AND REJECTING ALL OTHER BIDS.
WHEREAS, the City of Alameda heretofore published notices calling for
bids for furnishing one motor pick-up sweeper in accordance with Specifications
and Provisions therefor, No. MS 6-44-2, approved June 20, 1944; and
WHEREAS, in response to said notices bide were received from Edward
R. Bacon Company and from Elgin Sweeper Company; and
WHEREAS, the proposal submitted by said Edward R. Bacon Company is
unsigned and it further appears from the letter of said company accompanying
said proposal and dated June 30, 1944, setting forth the specifications of the
sweeper offered by said company, that said sweeper does not conform to the mini-
mum requirements of the specifications adopted by the City in several material
respects;
NOW, F0R, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF DIE CITY OF ALAMEDA:
That the bid or proposal of said Edward R. Bacon Company be, and the
same is hereby disqualified and rejected;
RESOLVED, FURTHER, that said Elgin Sweeper Company is a responsible
bidder and that the proposal submitted by said bidder to supply one motor pick-up
sweeper, equipped with one gutter broom light only and without extra set of gutter
broom segments, for $7,762.38, is the lowest and best bid received;
RESOLVED, FURTHER, that the bid of said Elgin Sweeper Company be ac-
cepted; that a contract for the furnishing of said pick-up sweeper, in accordance
with said specifications and proposal, be awarded to said bidder; and that the
Mayor be authorized to execute said contract on behalf of the City of Alameda;
RESOLVED, FURTHER, that the City Clerk is hereby directed to return to
the unsuccessful bidder the proposal guaranty accompanying its bid.
I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was
duly and regularly introduced and adopted by the Council of the City of Alameda
in regular meeting assembled on the 18th day of July, 1944, by the following
vote, to wit:
AYES: Councilmen Branscheid, Howe, Osborn and President Godfrey, (4).
NOES: None,
ABSENT: Councilman Jones, (1).
