RESOLUTION OF ITTE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA
STATING ITS OPPOSITIUN TO THE PACIFIC aAs AN1
HIEUTRIC COMPANY,S PROPOSAL FOR "PARTNERSHIP" IN
THE CONSTRErTION OF THE TRINITY RIVER PROJECT AND

WHEREAS, on January 7, 1958 tne Northern California Municipal Electric Asso-
ciation, of which the City of Alameda is a member, unanimously passed e. resolution.
opposing the Pacific Gas and Eaoctric Company's proppsal for partnership'' in the con-
struction of the Trinity River Project and its power generating faclUities, said
resolution helylg based on the following reasons:
1. That it is the responsibility of all communities represented to seek'.
power for their electrical distribution systems at the lowest cost possible.
2. That the Trinity River Project offers the last opportunity for a low
cost major power supply for the members of this Association.
3. That revenues generated from the oprati.on of these electrical systems
are of vital. importabbe to the economy of these rapidly' exnanding Western communities,
4. That in order to sustain these economic demands and seek the ibwest
cost power available, we must oepose any attempt 13, a private utility to supersedr
our rigEts as public, agencies to first call. on power developed through expenditure
of nublic funds;

WHEREAS, the Council. of the City' of Alameda. subscribes to 1'' vievs set
out therein;
NOW' THEREFORE!, BE IT RITSOLNED BY THE CONIMIL OF THE CITY GF ALAMEDA that
its opposition to the Pacific Gas and Electric Company's 31303 33', for "partnership"
in the construction. of the Trinity River Project and its T.ower generatng facilities
be hereby recorded.
BE IT FUETUER RESOLVED that the Federal 130' 13 is urged to immediately
proceed to construct the generating facilities set out above and that favorable con-
sidbration be given to any application of the City of Alameda and other member cities
of the Northern California Municipal Electric Association for the purchase of a por-
tion of the electrial generating capacity of the Trinity River Project, •
