RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA
URGING THE MODIFICATION OF REGULATION NC. 1 OF
THE BAY AREA AIR POLLUTION CONTROL DISTRICT.,
RELATING TO OPEN DUMP BURNING.
WHEREAS, the Bay Area Air Pollution Control District has had in operation
its Regulation No, 1, banning open dump burning, for a period of time in excess of
six (6) months; and
WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Alameda is cf the opinion that the
operation of said Regulation, as related to municipal dumps, is unnecessary and
unjust; and
WHEREAS, this position of the Council has been ably set out in an editor-
ial of the Alameda Times-Star of Tuesday, August 5, 1958, a copy of which is attached
hereto and incorporated herein by reference as if fully at out herein; and
WHEREAS, the Council heartily endorses the statements set out in said
editorial with the exteption that it is rot of the opinion that the "Hay Area, with
its natural air conditioning, is protected against the kind of smog conditions that
plagued Los Angeles";
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA that
the Bay Area Air Pollution Control District modify its present Regulation No. 1 or
enact additional regulations in conformance with the intent of the editorial attached
hereto.
DE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the City of Alameda transmit a
certified copy of this resolution to the Bay Area Air Pollution Control District.

lar meeting assembled on the 5th day of August, 1958, by the following vote, to wit:
AYES: Councilmen Collischonn, Schacht and Vice President Petersen, (2).
NOES: None.
ABSENT: Councilman Freeman and President McCall, (2).
