RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA IN MEMORIAM
TO MR. RIX 94. .4.].
WITH PROFOUND SORROW, the Council of the City of Alameda records the death of one of its
most loyal and civic minded citizens, MR. RIX MAURER, former Councilman, Vice Mayor, member of the
Board of Education and, currently, a member of the Public Utilities Board of the City of Alameda.
WHEREAS, Mr. Maurer had been elected by vote of the people to tno office of Councilman of
the City of Alameda on November 3, 1935, and bad heen re-elected on March 14, 1939; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Maurer had served as Vice Mayor of the City of Alameda during the period from
December, 1941, until the expiration of his to of office in April, 1943; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Maurer had been appointed by the City Council to membership on the Board of
Education of the City of Alameda on October 5, 1943, from which Board he eventually resigned to
accept appointment by the City Council as a member of the Public Utilities Board of the City of
Alameda on June 26, 1946, in which important post he had served in an outstanding manner until the
time of hls sudden death. Mr. Maurer had been elected by said Board to act as its President during
four different periods of time; and,
WHEREAS, Mr. Maurer had given generously (44 194, time and business experience to the benefit
of the City and its people in his ready acceptance of civic responsibility, and the loss of his
competency in this respect will be greatly deplored by the camnunity as a whole.
"0,1, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that, in acknowledgement of his invaluable efficiency in
his service to the City and the high esteem in which he was held by all of his associates and many
friends, the Council of the City of Alameda does hereby express its sense of personal loss and its
gratitude for the excellent contribution to civic affairs made by this honorable man.
BE IT MUMMER RESOLVED that this resolution be spread in full, upon the minutes of this
meeting and copy thereof he forwarded to the family of Mr. Maurer in order to extend to it a sin-
cere expression of compassion and. condolence in its bereavement.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that when this meeting of the Council of the City of Alameda
adjourns, it shalt do so in respect to the memory of MR. RIX MAURER.
1, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was duly and regularly
introduced and adopted by the Council of the City of Alameda in regular meeting assembled on the
16th da of Tannery, 1962, by the following vote, to wit:
AYES: Councilmen Godfrey, McCall, Schacht and President 11 144111' (4).
NOES: Hone.
ABSENT: Councilman Dungan, (1).
