Resolution 06448CITY OF ALAMEDA RESOLUTION NO. 6448 EXPRESSINC, OPPOSITIM TO ASSEMBLY BILL 882. WUEREAS, Assembly Bill 889 has been ihLroduced in the California State Legislature; and WHEREAS, said bill, if adopted, wuld probibiL the Alameda-Contra Costa Transit District from engaging in charter pperations, thereby depriving said District of a 5ubstantial source of reveni,e and impairing its ability to function with full force and efficiency; and WHEREAS, it was the intent. of the electorate in establishing said District that it provide public transportation at the lowest possible cost and with the least possible burden upon the taxpayers of the District; and WHEREAS, this purpose can beet be served by permitting said District. to utilize all sound and legitimate business practices; NOW, THEREFORE, 1 IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA that said Council does hereby urge the defeat of Assembly Bill 889 as an unwarranted and unreasonable restriction upon the ability of said District to carry out its obligation in conformity with the desires of the public served.
