RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA SUSPENDING
TEMPORARILY 7,1 ISSUANCE OF BUILDING PERMITS FOR GASOLINE
SERVICE SI:ALI:DNS IN C-2 (CENTRAL BUSINESS) DISTRICTS.
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 11-172 of the Alameda Municipal Code, this Council, AL its
meeting of March 19, 1963, on its own motion, initiated an amendment to Ordinance No. 1277, New
Series, which amendment, if finally adopted, will prohibit the construction of gasoline service
stations in C-2 (Central Business) Districts except upon the granting of a Use Permit; and
l■q1EREAS, after public hearing, the Planning board of the City of Alameda has recommended
the adoption of said amendment; and
WHEREAS, said amendment cannot become effective until June 21, 1953, at the earliest, due
to the requirements of Charter and Ordinance; and
WHEREAS, this Council hereby determines that the health, safety and general welfare of
the community require that no new gasoline service stations be constructed in C-2 Districts until
the amendatory zoning proceedings mentioned above are concludde;
N0'4 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY 'OF ALAMEDA that the issuance
of building permits for gasoline service stations in C-2 (Central Business) Districts he, and the
same hereby is suspended until the zoning proceedings in regard to gasoline service stations,
initiated by this Council on March 19, 1963, are terminated or until June 21, 1963, whichever is
sooner.
RESOLVED, FURTHER, that the Building Inspector of the City of Alameda is hereby directed,
during the suspension period herein set out, to withhold action nn any and all applications for
gasoline service stations in C-2 (Central Business) Districts and to refrain from issuing building
permits for the construction of same,
