REESTABLISHING THE CITIZENS' COMMITTEE ON CHARTER REVISION
HERETOFORE CREATED BY RESOLUTION Nn. 6381, APPOINTING MEMBERS
AND PRESCRIBING THE POWERS AND DUTIES THEREOF.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA:
1. The Citizens' Committee on Charter Revision, heretofore on June 26, 1962,
created by Resolution No. 6381, ts hereby reestablished and reactivated with the powers and duties
hereinafter set forth.
SECTION 2. The following residents of the City of Alameda are hereby appointed to member-
ship on said committee:

George A. Hackleman
Herman J. Kihn
Clarence R. Kline
Raymond P. Kranelly
(Mrs.) Mae Maritzen
John G. McKean
Daniel J. McPeak
Thomas H. Nason
E. W. Paterson
Lou W. Schroeder
Stanley E. Seagren, Jr.
J. Douglas Stevens
Karl E. Zigelhnfer
SECTION 3. Said committee shall exist until dissolved by vote of the City Council, and
the above named members of said committee shall serve until dissolution of the committee, removal
by the City Council, or their resignation, whichever occurs first.
SECTION 4. The City Council, at its option, may replace any committee member who resigns
or is removed prior to dissolution of said committee. Such replacement shall be accomplished
through nomination by the Mayor and confirmation by the City Council.
SECTION 5. The Citizens' Committee on Charter Revision shall have the following powers
and duties:
(a) To adopt rules and regulations for the proper administration of the
affairs of said committee.
(b) After study and evaluation of the existing Charter of the City of Alameda,
to recommend to the City Council any revisions of said Charter deemed necessary.
(c) If Charter revision is recommended by the committee, to draft specific
amending proposals for review and action by the City Council, such drafting to be
accomplished with the aid of the City Attorney and any special legal counsel
employed by the City for that purpose.
(d) Co gather information and advice from any and all sources, provided, that
no fees or other charges for the furnishing of such information or advice shall be
a valid claim against the City unless authorized by the City Council.
le) To propose to the Council such of its proposed amendments, if any, as in
is judgment are of sufficient urgency or priority as to warrant submission to the
local electorate at the general election to be held on the first Tuesday after the
first Monday of November, 1964.
lf) To render written progress reports upon request of the City Council and
to submit its final report containing the recommendations referred to hereinabove,
together with any proposed Charter amendments, on or before August 1, 1964.
