APPR0VING EXNENSION OF' dOINT POWERS ACREEEFFINT W1511 COUNTIES
OF ALAMEDA AND CONTRA GOCTA, AND CillES OF ALAMEDA AND
rECHBOND, RELATING TO OPERATIONS OF EAST NAY COOPFRAINATF
LIBRARY SYSTEM. AND AUEHORIZING EXECUTION THEREOF%
NHEREASe pursuant to Resolution No. 8549, adopted. January 7, 1964, and Resolutien No. 6982,
adopted July 5, 1996, the City of Alamedd became a member, along with the City- of Richmond and the
Counties of Alameda, ard Contra Costa, of the East Bay Cooperative Library System, eddnh provddes
certain library servjo,es finanoed by state and federal grants; amd
WHEREAS, said members entered. into a joint powers agreement among themselves establishing
said. system, said agreement being for a one—year period w expires June 30, 1969; and
WHEREAS, it is in the Bityls best interests that said contract, be extended on a year—to-
year basis, subject to cancellation by any of the parties, and that thereby the library services
thereunder be continued; and
muaLas, a form. of agreement for 31,331 extension has been prepared and presented to this
Council. for apprukal;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED 3333 33,3 COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF' AF,LID, that the certain
Joint Powers AgreemEnt among the Counties oh' Alameda and. Contra Costa, and the Cities of Alameda
and Richmond, relating to the operations of tho East Bay Cooperative Library System, a copy of vhhich
has been filed in tie office o the C• ta Clerk and marked, "Filed, June 20, 1967," be and is hereby
approved.
BE IT FURTHER. RESOLVED that the Mayor is hereby authorized to execute, and the City Clerk
to attest, said agreement on behala of the City of Alameda.

introduced and adopted by the Council of the City of Alameda in regular meeting assembled on the
