RESAMITTION OF TE COUNCIL OF TNE CITY OF 3: J1 ID MEMORIAM
TO BURRIS e),ABRIDGEb, REMIPID POLITE OFFICER
WITH HEARTFELT SORROW, the Council of the City of Alameda records the death of one of its
former, loyal employees, BURVIS C. BRIDGES, retired Director of Identification of the Alameda Bolide
Department.
'WHEREAT, Me. Bridges had commenced his employment ar a Patrolmah with tho Alameda Police
Department on January 1, .1925, and had served diligently. and with utmost competence during the suc-
ceeding twerty—foar years; and
WHEREAS, AW. Bridges had eeor engendered cooperation and a frkendly spirit among hia fellow
officers and all associates; and
EhEREAS, Mr. Bridges had specialized :LE the field of identification techniques and when he
was forced by in health to retire from active police work in 190, he had eeentkally become a
Professor of Crology at San Francisco City Ctliege and the Unixersity of California where he also
gained recognition and diatinctibn as an autIor on identification methods and procedures.
NOW, THEREFORE, NE IT RESOLVED that the Council of' the City of Alameda acknowledges mdth
appreciation the noteworthy. contributien made by Mr. Brddges in the development of more efficient
police procedures, and his many articles for law enforcement publications throughont the country.
and, on behalf' of the citizens of the commmnity, does hereby express a sense of' loss in the paasing
of this dedicated Police Offdder.
BE IT (3 3:3.11 RESOLVED, that this resolution be spread in. full upon the minutes of this
meeting and a copy thereof 3 sent to the family of Hr. Bridges in order to extend. to its members a
sincere expression of sympathy in their berbauement.
BE IT FURTHER RESOINEW, that when this meeting of tne Council of the City. of Alameda adjourns,
it shall do so in respect to the memory of BURTIS C. BRIDGES, Retired Director of Identification of
Alameda. Police Department.
