CITY OF ALAMEDA RESOLUTION NO. 7702
AMENDING SECTION 2 OF RESOLUTION NO. 7651 BY AMENDING PARAGRAPHS
3 AND 4 THEREOF, RELATING TO EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM AND UNIFORM
ALLOWANCE FOR CERTAIN EMPLOYEES
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA that Section 2 of Resolution No. 7651,
adopted July 14, 1970, is hereby amended as follows:
Section 1. 3. EDUCATIONAL INCENTIVE PROGRAM
A. Each sworn member of the Police Department below the rank of Police Captain who
qualifies for a Training Incentive Award in accordance with the administrative
directive entitled, "Regulations Governing the Training Incentive Program" shall
receive, so long as such qualifications are retained, an award in the amount of
$55.00 per month.
B. Each full -time City employee below the position of Division Head, not included
in subparagraph A above, who qualifies for educational reimbursement in accordance
with the administrative directive entitled, "Regulations Governing the Education
Reimbursement Program" shall receive, so long as such qualifications are retained,
reimbursement for certain approved educational costs as tuition fees, laboratory
fees, costs of textbooks, and mileage, in a sum not to exceed $200.00 annually,
unless any excess thereof has first been authorized in writing by the City Manager.
Section 2. 4. UNIFORM ALLOWANCE
A. Police Department. All sworn members of the Police Department, except the Chief
of Police, shall receive a sum of money in the amount of $165.00 annually as
uniform allowance. Non -sworn personnel employed in the Police Department who are
required to wear a distinctive uniform shall receive a sum of money in the amount
of $40.00 annually as allowance therefor.
B. Fire Department. All uniformed members of the Fire Department, except the Fire
Chief, shall receive a sum of money in the amount of $150.00 annually as uniform
allowance. Said allowance to members of the Fire Department shall be in lieu, and
take the place, of the uniform damage replacement program heretofore in effect in
said Department, except as to necessary non - uniform items damaged in the direct
performance of duty.
C. Crossing Guards. All regularly scheduled Crossing Guards with more than six months'
City employment shall receive a single payment of $46.00 as cost of a uniform.
Replacement of worn or damaged uniforms of such Guards shall be at City cost upon
the written authorization of the Chief of Police.
D. Other Departments. Full -time employees of all Departments, except those enumerated
in paragraphs A and B above, shall be provided special protective clothing at City
cost upon the written authorization of the affected Department Head and approval
of the City Manager. "Special protective clothing" shall be only those garments
or clothing articles necessary to protect the usual work clothing, which the employee
normally wears to and on the job, from unusual hazards or from unusual wear and tear.
