WITCREAS, it has come to the attention of the Council of the City of Alameda that
EMILE" FOLEY is retiring fror . the position of Chief Engineer) Toll midge Administration,
Department of Transportation of the State of California; and
WHEREAS, Xr. Foley's service with the State Division of Highways since 1932 has been
such as to justify his appointment to successively increasing levels of difficulty and. importance,
until his appointment, to the position of Chief of the Toll Bridge Administration 1 November
of ILE6g; and
HESSENAS, his service as the Ghief Administrator o6 the Toll Bridge Administration has
resulted in the highest level of service in ail divisions of that organization; and
WHEREAS, the SOUTHERN CROSSING was the vehicle by which the people and officials of
the City of Alameda became arstahaiuted with hr. Foley; and
WHEREAS, and not withstanding the official. position of the City of Alameda, Er. FoleyIs
personal efforts and the efforts of his staff of pursuing and repeatedly presenting the need for
a Southen Crossing were always based on the most professional excellence 001 study, performance
and fairness;
NOW, THEREFOILE, BE 3 EGSTALVXD that 0.0 Council. of the City of Alameda hereby cams:ends
this outstanding public servant for hin devotion to 0- £ nterests of 0. People of California,
the San Francisco Bay Region and the City of Alameda; and expresses its appreciation for the
spirit of cooperation he has unfailingly displayed. in his contracts with the governmental
officials and representatives of this Oity.
HE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Alameda hereby extends to
E. R. VIABLE', POLICY sincere felicitations upon his retirement and best wishes for hde continued
good health and happiness.
