CITY OF ALAMEDA RESOLUTION NO. 8315
RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THF CITY OF ALAMEDA IN RECOGNITION
AND COMMENDATION OF DONALD SANDOVAL
WHEREAS, on March 3, 1975, MASTER DONALD SANDOVAL, age twelve years, displayed great
courage and presence cf mind when he awoke and found his home in flames; and
WHEREAS, Master Sandoval's alertness and quick action in waking his sleeping grandfather
resoluted in saving both his own life and that of Trinidad Sandoval.
NOW, THEREFORE, RE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Alameda, on behalf
of the people of the City, hereby recognizes the valor exemplified by Master Sandoval in averting
further tragedy in this situation, and extends its sincere commendation for his meritorious act.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of this resolution be presented to Master Sandoval
as an expression of the heartfelt gratitude and plaudits he so richly deserves for his actions.

RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA IN APPRECIATION
AND COMMENDATION OF THE HONORABLE TERRY Y. LA CROIX, JR.
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA records with great admiration and esteem the long
period of service faithfully rendered by The Honorable TERRY Y. LA CROIX, JR, as an official
of the City.
WHEREAS, the Honorable TERRY Y. LA CROIX, JR., a native Alamedan, was first appointed
as a member of the Recreation and Parks Cormission on September 1, 1956, and competently served
both as a member and Chairman until his election to the City Council for the term beginning
April 16, 1963, being re-elected at the succeeding General Municipal Election and chosen by his
fellow Councilmen to act as Mayor and President of the City Council for the term from 1969 to 1971;
and
WHEREAS, the citizens of the community chose him as their first elected Mayor in
fifty-one years for the term commencing April 20, 1971, and during his tenure many notable improve-
ments have been accomplished which have greatly benefited the City; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable TERRY Y. LA CROIX, JR, has brought national recognition to himself
and to the City of Alameda by his competent discharge of the functions of his office, and has been
honored on many occasions for his participation in the City's legislative, cultural and spiritual
activities.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Alameda, being aware of the
devotion of Mayor La Croix to this community by his personal influence for good, and the sacrifice
he has made in giving wholeheartedly of his time and energy to promote advantages and opportunities
for the benefit of all its citizens, does hereby convey its genuine esteem and gratitude for his
endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Alameda does hereby convey to The
Hnnorable MAYOR TERRY Y. LA CROIX, JR. its hest wishes for his continued good health and happiness.

RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA IN APPRECIATION
AND COMMENDATION OF THE HONORABLE WILLIAM M. McCALL
LET IT BE KNOWN that The Honorable WILLIAM M. McCALL, a native AJamedan, has long beer
one of the City's most civic-minded and outstanding citizens, who has earned the admiration,
respect and friendship of many by his forthright attitude, integrity, leadership and his amicable
personality.
WHEREAS, the Honorable "BILL" McCALL, as he is affectionately known by his numerous
friends, was appointed as a member of the Pension Board in January, 1953, from which position he
resigned upon his election to the City Council for the term beginning April 21. 1953, and was re-
elected at the succeeding five General Municipal Elections; and
WHEREAS, Councilman McCall was selected by his fellow Councilmen to act as Mayor and
President of the City Council for two terms from 1957 to 1961 and for one term from 1967 to 1969;
and
WHEREAS, Councilman McCall has demonstrated his dedication and competence in the full
assumption of his responsibilities as an official of the City and has won distinction and brought
honor to the City by his participation in civic, service, fraternal and benevolent organizations,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Alameda does hereby express
to this outstanding citizen its genuine esteem and sincere gratitude for his unselfish contribution
of time, effort and experience for the benefit of the community.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Alameda does hereby extend to The
Honorable WILLIAM M. "BILL" McCALL every good wish for a long, healthful, happy and productive life.

RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA IN APPRECIATION
AND COMMENDATION OF MRS, MARION CAVANAUGH FOR HER SERVICE TO THE
COMMUNITY
WHEREAS, MRS, MARION CAVANAUGH has earned the admiration and respect of many and has
long been recognized as one of the City's active and concerned citizens; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Cavanaugh was appointed as a member of the Board of Education on July 1,
1953, was reappointed to each succeeding term, and subsequently, in the General Municipal Election
held March 11, 1969, successfully competed for membership on the first elected Board of Education
in the City of Alameda and won re-election ir 1971 for a term expiring April 15, 1975; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Cavanaugh has served as President and Vice President of the Board, and
under her competent guidance that body has achieved remarkable strides in the development and
maintenance of the highest standards of education; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Cavanaugh has won distinction and brought honor to the City by her
participation in the activities of civic, service and benevolent organizations of the City.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Alameda does hereby
express to this outstanding citizen its genuine esteem and sincere gratitude for her unselfish
contribution of time, effort and experience for the benefit of the School District and the
community.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City cf Alameda does hereby extend to
Mrs. Cavanaugh its best wishes for good health and much happiness in the future,
