CITY OF ALAMEDA RESOLUTION NO, 8508
OPPOSING SENATE BILL 1500, CALLING FOR REORGANIZATION OF THE
CALIFORNIA TRIAL COURTS
WHEREAS, SO 1500 has been introduced in the California Legislature; and
WHEREAS, SO 1500 calls for the reorganization of the California trial courts; and
WHEREAS, said reorganization proposes to shift the cost of funding such reorganization
from the counties to the state; and
WHEREAS, the state would fund such reorganization from the state general fund with funds
collected under Vehicle Code fines and forfeitures; and
NHEREAS, fifty percent of said funds previously were allocated to cities under Section
1463 of the Penal Code; and
WHEREAS, said loss of funds would further compound a city and its taxpayers problem
in meeting the obligations of their local government;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA that the City of
Alameda oppose the passage of SB 1500.
