CITY OF ALAMEDA RESOLUTION NO, 8529
AUTHORIZING SUBMISSION OF APPLICATION TO UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT
OF HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT FOR FUNDS FOR "SECTION 701'
COMPREHENSIVE PLANNING ASSISTANCE, CONSISTING OF OVERALL PROGRAM
DESIGN IMPLEMENTATION, THE CONTINUATION OF AREA PLANNING, AND A
LAND-USE IMPLEMENTATION PROGRAM, AND CERTAIN HOUSING AND DESIGN
RELATED STUDIES
WHEREAS, the City of Alameda, recognizing the problems and issues identified in its Overall
Program Design, desires to develop a land use implementation program, continue area plEnning, and com-
plete certain housing and design studies; and
WHEREAS, said City will apply the Overall Program Design to the lone range planning activities
of its Planning Department, all as outlined in the application to deal with these developmental
problems and issues; ard, the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development, as authorized
by Section 701 of the Housing Act of 1954, as amended, may provide financial assistance for such a
program;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA THAT
1. The City Council of the City of Alameda hereby requests the United States Department
of Housing and Urban Development, under authority of Section 701 of the Housing Act of 1954, as amended,
to provide financial assistance for the undertaking of the land use implementation program; continua-
tion of the area planning Program, and complete certain housing and design related studies, as described
in the Overall Program Design that is attached hereto and by this reference made a part hereto as if
fully set forth at this point.
2. The City Council of the City of Alameda, subject to approval of such financial assis-
tance by the federal authorities, hereby authorizes:
(a) Use of personnel of the City ef Alameda for technical assistance. The
City's watching funds will be contributed by such technical assistance
and will have a net estimated cost of $23,724,
(b) The City Manager and Assistant City Manager be, and each hereby is, authorized
to execute necessary requisitions for the payment of funds to accomplish this
program herein approved,
3. The City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to execute and to file such
application and to provide such additional information and to furnish such documents as may be required
by the said Department of Housing and Urban Development.
