CONFIRMING CANVASS BY REGISTRAR OF VOTERS OF ALAMEDA COUNTY OF
STATE PRIMARY ELECTION HELD JUNE R, 1976
WHEREAS, the Registrar of Voters of the County of Alameda did duly canvass the votes
cast in the City of Alameda, County of Alameda, State of California, at the Special Municipal
Charter Amendment Election consolidated with the State of California Primary Election held on
June 8, 1976. in said City by the electors of said City upon the Charter Amendment Measures
hereinafter set fnrth, and the Registrar of Voters of said County did certify to this Council the
result of the votes cast at said Election upon said Measures, which certification is now on file
in the office of the City Clerk of said City of Alamedn.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA as follows:
1. Said canvass by the Registrar of Voters of Alameda County as shown by said certifi-
cation and the result of said Election is hereby ratified, confirmed and approved.
2. At said Election the following Charter Amendment Measures to the Charter of the City
of Alameda were submitted to the electors of said City and the number of votes cast in said City
for and against said Measures were as follows:

MEASURE F:
Shall the Charter of the City of Alameda be amended
and clarified to make its various provisions consistent with a
previously approved Charter amendment which created a directly
elected Mayor, to make "Vice President" read "Vice Mayor', and
to make the provisbns calling for special City Council meetings
consistent with state law? Said amendments will be accomplished 12,610 3.274
by amending Sections 2-1, 3-7(A) and (B) and 6-2 of the said
Charter, as fully set forth in Resolution No. 8502 of the
Council of the City of Alameda.
MEASURE 8:
Shall the Charter of the City of Alameda be amended
and clarified to make its various provisions consistent with
a previously approved Charter amendment which created a directly
elected Mayor and to change the City Auditor and City Treasurer
from elected positions to positions appointed by the Council?
Said amendments will be accomplished by amending Sections 2-1
and 2-2 of said Chorter, all as fully set forth in Resolution
No. *502 of the Council of the City of Alameda.
MEASURE H:
Shall the Charter of the City of Alameda be amended to
permit the Council to adopt a budget and fix the tax rate prior
to the third Tuesday in 3eptember, to use an appropriate percen-
tage rather than three percent for delinquencies on the assess-
ment roll and to repeal the provision requiring payment for
copying public records? Said amendments will be accomplished
by amending Section 1704 and repealing Sectbn 22-6 of said
Charter, all as fully set forth in Resolution No. 8502 of the
Council of the City of Alameda.
MEASURE I'
Shall the Charter of the City of Alameda be amended
to provide for the use of state general law procedures for
City elections? Said amendments will be accomplished by
amending Sections 2-6, 2-8 and 19-2 and repealing Sections
19-4, 19-5, 19-6. 19-7, 19-8, 19-9, 19'10, 19-11, 19-14,
19-15, and 19-16 of said Charter, all as fully set forth in
Resolution No. 8502 of the Council of the City of Alameda.

Shall the Charter of the City of Alameda be amended
to provide for the use of state general law procedures for
recall elections? Said amendment will be accomplished by
amending Section 20'2 and repealing Sections 20-3, 20-4, 20-5,
20-5, 20-7, 28'8, 20-9, 20-10, 20-I1' 20-12, 20-I3, 20-14. 20-15, 11,573 3,673
20-16. 20-17' 20-18. 20-19' 20-20, 20-21, 20-22, 20-23, 20-24.
MEASURE K:
Shall the Charter of the City of Alameda be amended to
permit police and fire department personnel the right to appeal
after dismissal once they have attained permanent civil service
status? Said amendment will be accomplished by amending
Section 13-3 of said Charter, all as fully set forth in
Resolution No. 8502 of the Council of the City of Alameda,
MEASURE L:
Shall the Charter of the City of Alameda be amended
by repealing Article XXIV, the parking district law, so that
state parking and assessment district acts could apply?
Said amendment will be accomplished by repealing Article XXIV
of said Charter, all as fully set forth in Resolution No, 8502
of the Council of the City of Alameda.

Shall the Charter of the City of Alameda be amended
to require the publication of a digest (summary) of proposed
ordinances before they are adopted and repeal the provision
requiring publication of ordinances in full after they are 8,297 7'230
adopted? Said amendment will be accomplished by amending
Section 3-14 of said Charter, all as fully set forth in
Resolution No. 8502 of the Council of the City of Alameda.
3. The total number of votes cast in said City of Alameda at said City of Alameda at
said Special Municipal Charter Amendment Election and the total number of votes given in each
precinct for and against said Charter Amendment Measurer was and is as set forth in said canvass
by the Registrar of Voters of Alameda Cnunty,
4. More than a majority of all the votes cast at said Special Municipal Charter Amend-
ment Election on Measures F, H, I, J, K, L, and M were in favor of said Measures and authorized
the Amendments to the Charter of the City of Alameda as set forth in said Charter Amendment
Measures and these seven particular Meaeures passed.
5. Less than a majority of all the votes cast at said Special Municipal Charter
t Election on Measure G'*ere in favor of said Measure and accordingly, did not authorize
that amendment to the Charter of the City of Alameda as set forth in said Charter Amendment
Measure, and Measure G did not pass.
