ADOPTING A CONFLICT OF INTEREST COD[ APPLICABLE TO THE MEMBERS
OF THE CITY COUNCIL PURSUANT TO THE POLITICAL REFORM ACT OF 274
WHEREAS, the voters of the State of California passed the Political Reform Act of 1974;
and
WHEREAS, said act, codified as Title 9 of the Government Code, §81000 to 91014
inclusive, provides in §87300 that the City of Alameda adopt a conflict of interest code; and
WHEREAS, said Code adoptionmust be adopted before September, 1975 and submitted to
the Fair Political Practices Commission before or on September 10, 1975.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Alameda hereby
adopts the folloving as the Conflict of Interest Code of the City of Alameda:
CONFLICT OF INTEREST CODE
OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA
Section I. ADOPTION,
In compliance with §87300 of the Government Code, the City Council hereby adopts this
Conflict of Interest Code.
Section 2. APPLICATION OF CODE,
This Conflict of Interest Code shall be applicable to members of the City Council,
whether acting as Council member or as a governing board member or commissioner of any city agency.
Section 3. DEFIMITION5,
This Code shall incorporate by reference, as if set forth herein, all definitions as
set forth in the Political Reform Act of 1974 or as set forth in the regulations of The Fair
Political Practices Commission.
Section 4. DISCLOSURE,
Members of the City Council are required, purusant to Government Code §87200, to
disclose investments, interest in real property and income. No other or no additional disclosure
requirements are imposed by this Conflict of Interest Code,
Section 5. CIRCUMSTANCES REQUIRING DISQUALIFICATION,
of the City Ci Council, whether acting as a council member or as a governing
board 'ur commissioner of any city ag disqualify himself or herself f g or
participating in the making of any decision which will foreseeably have a material, financial
effect, distinguishable from its effect on the public generally, on any economic interest, as defined
in Government Code §87103. No member shall be prevented from making or particpating in the
making of any decision to the extent his or her pvrticipution is legally required for the decision
to be made,

introduced and adopted by the Council of the City of Alameda in regular meeting assembled on the
17th day of August, 1976, by the following vote, to wit;
AYES: Councilmen Beckam, Diament, Sherratt and President Corica,
NOES: None.
ABSENT: Councilman Hurwitz, (1).
