CALLING GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD IN THE CITY OF
ALAMEDA ON TUESDAY, MARCH 8, 1977; ESTABLISHING ELECTION PRECINCTS;
FIXING NUMBER OF ELECTION OFFICERS ON THE BOARD OF ELECTION FOR
EACH PRECINCT; FIXING COMPENSATION OF ELECTION OFFICERS AND DESIGNATING
HOURS OF VOTING
WHEREAS, Article XIX of the Charter of the City of Alameda and Section 2500 of the Elections
Code of the State of California provide that a General Municipal Election shall be held in said City
on Tuesday, March 8, 1977; and
WHEREAS, at said General Municipal Election, and pursuant to the provisions of the
Charter of said City, officers are to be elected to fill the office of Councilman for two full terms
and one two-year term; the office of Auditor for one full term; the office of Treasurer for one full
term; and the office of Member of the Board of Education for three full terms.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA that a General Municipal
Election be, and is hereby, called and ordered to be held in said City of Alameda, State of California,
on Tuesday, March 8, 1977, in accordance with the provision of said Charter of the City of Alameda and
the Elections Code of the State of California, for the purpose of electing the following named
officers of the City for the terms specified:
Two (2) Councilmen on the Council of said City for two full terms, each term
commencing at 7:30 o'clock p.m. on the third Tuesday in April, 1977, and
continuing for four (4) years thereafter and until a successor is elected and
qualified;
One (1) Councilman on the Council of said City for one two-year term
commencing at 7:30 o'clock p.m. on the third Tuesday in April, 1977, and
continuing for two (2) years thereafter and until a successor is elected
and qualified;
One (1) Auditor of said City for a full term commencing at 7:30 o'clock
p.m. on the third Tuesday in April, 1977, and continuing for four (4) years
thereafter and until a successor is elected and qualified;
One (1) Treasurer of said City for a full tern commencing at 7:30 o'clock p.m.
on the third Tuesday in April, 1977, and continuing for four (4) years there-
after and until a successor is elected and qualified;
Three (3) members of the Board of Education of said City tr a term commencing
at 7:30 o'clock p.m. on the third Tuesday in April, 1977, and tontinuing for
four (4) years thereafter and until a successor is elected and qualified;
and for the purpose of voting on any measures or propositions which may lawfully be submitted at said
Election.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the 74 election precincts within the City of Alameda, designated
and numbered as the same were last heretofore defined, fixed and established by the Board of Super-
visors of the County of Alameda, State of California, as the election precincts within the City of
Alameda for holding General State and County Elections, be and the same are hereby, fixed, designated
and established as the election precincts for holding the aforesaid General Municipal Election.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of Election for each election precinct at said
General Municipal Election shall consist of a maximum of one Inspector, one Judge and two Clerks.
RESOLVED, FURTHER, that the compensation to be paid to each of the election officers for
conducting said General Municipal Election be, and the same is hereby, fixed at the sum of Twenty-
eight Dollars and Fifty Cents ($28.50) and an extra sum of One Dollars and Fifty Cents ($1.50) shall
be paid to the election officer who delivers the returns to the City Clerk,
RESOLVED FURTHER, that the polls at the polling places hereafter to be designated by the
Council for said election shall be opened at 7:00 o'clock a.m. (P.S.T.) of said day of election and
shall be kept open conthously thereafter until 8:00 o'clock p.m. (P.S.T.) of said day of election when
the polls shall be closed (as provided in Sections 14206, 14436 and 22903 of the California Elections
Code) and the election officers shall thereupon proceed to canvass the ballots cast thereat and the
returns of said election shall be made out and signed by the election officers and shall be by them
deposited with the City Clerk, together with the ballots cast at said election.
RESOLVED, FURTHER, that this Council shall meet at its usual meeting place and canvass
said returns on Tuesday, the 15th day of March, 1977, (being the first Tuesday after said General
Municipal Election and the date of the first regular meeting of the Council following said General
Municipal Election ) at the hour of 7:30 o'clock p.m, and declare the results of said General Municipal
Election.
RESOLVED, FURTHER, that the City Clerk be, and she is hereby, directed to do and perform
any and all acts required of her under the Charter of the City cf Alameda and the laws of the State of
California in respect to said General Municipal Election.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that said General Municipal Election called and ordered to be
held, as aforesaid, shall he held and conducted, and the votes cast thereat received and
canvassed, and the returns thereof made, and the result thereof ascertained, determined and
declared, as herein provided, and in all particulars not recited herein, in accordance with the
Charter of said City of Alameda and the laws of the State of California governing said General
Municipal Election.

introduced and adopted by the Council of the City of ,Alameda in regular meeting assembled on the
21st day of December, 1976, by the following vote, to wit:
AYES: Councilmen Beckam, Diament, Hurwitz, Sherratt and President Corica, (5).
NOES: None.
ABSENT: None.
