It is involved in many economic develop- ment programs to improve the opportunities for long term employment which will benefit the unemployed or those with low incomes. The City has public safety programs which are carried out by the Police Department, Fire Department, civil defense, rescue squads and other volunteer organizations which are supported in whole by public funds. The City also has park and recreation programs which provide facilities for residents of the area. They provide the equipment and maintenance necessary for the operation of these facilities. NEEDS, RESOURCES AND ABILITY TO UTILIZE PROPERTY The City of Alameda has a need for a variety of types of equipment. It has requirements for varied types of vehicles, such as truck tractors, trailers, tankers, low-boy trailers, generator trailers, wreckers and buses. It also has need for generators of different sizes, electronic equipment, cooking utensils and supplies, office furnitire and other type material necessary in the conduct of the numerous programs and activities in which the City participates. All of the City activities are supported financially from taxes or grants. Funds to repair or renovate and maintain the property in use are available.
